2. Find the sum.

Presentation 1.Posting the problem on the board.


20 minutes Teacher read the problem while the pupils listen.
Mother asked Reynah and Iza to pick flowers from her garden.
Reynah pick 10 red roses while Iza was not able to pick.
How many flowers did the two girls pick altogether?
What are they doing in the garden?
How many red roses did Reynah pick?
How many flowers did Iza pick?

2.Put 10-15 red roses on the table.


Ask a pupil to pick 10 red roses.
Write the numbers on the board.
What is the total number of flowers did the two girls pick?
The number sentence is 10 + 0 = 10.
Find the sum of the following:
6+0= 4+0=
2+0= 8 +0=

3.Ask: What do you observe with the sums in 6 + 0, 2 + 0, 4 + 0 and 8 + 0?


When a number is added to zero the sum or answer is the number itself.

Practice Directions: Find the sum.
