•It is located in sector 14, Chandigarh.
• It has three entrance gates.
• First is on the Madhya marg.
• Second entrance is on Vidya path.
• Third entrance is on Udyog path.

BUILDING BY LAWS CD
•Exposed brickwork with concrete facade as a building material.
• Ground coverage= 40%
• Height=36’-0” to 57’-6”
• Parking norms: 4ECS for 100 sq. metre of covered area.
• Surface parking: minimum 20% of the site area.
• Minimum clear width of staircase: 1.8 metre
• Maximum FAR:1.5

PEDESTRAIN MOVEMENT
•Pedestrian movement is
separated from vehicular traffic.

The Campus

The layout of two campuses of the
University has been conceived to meet
the academic, administrative,
sports/recreational, residential and other
requirements of a growing University.
To make it self-contained, infrastructural

facilities like its own Shopping Centre,
Health Centre, Bank, Post office,
Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Sports
Grounds, Botanical Gardens, well
maintained parks, Open Air Theatre,
Guest Houses, Faculty House, Seminar
Complexes, Alumni House, Community
Centre and a school, have been
provided.

CIRCULATION AND PLANNING CD
• A cluster of prominent buildings like the
Gandhi Bhawan Fine Arts Museum
Gandhi Bhawan, the Fine Arts Museum,
the University Library and the Student
Centre form the hub of social interaction.
• The three-winged structure of the Gandhi
Bhawan, considered the pride of the
University, is its most artistic building.
• The Fine Arts Museum, with its series of
small galleries arranged around a
courtyard, each gallery having a
hyperbolic parabolic roof (umbrella
shaped), is not only an architectural but
a structural marvel as well.
• The University Library, another key
building, in the Sector 14 Campus is an
RCC framed structure with red sandstone

URBAN SPACES CD
• The Student Centre, with its circular
base and a ramp pulsating around its
cylindrical body, is another landmark
building.
• The student centre is the hub of
students' activities – academic, cultural,
social and political – besides being a
favourite eating and hanging out zone
for students.
• The Students' Council organises youth
festivals, both national and
international, academic debates,
literary and cultural events and
educational tours.

Architecture: PEC was designed in Pierre’s signature style
• Le Corbusier, who developed Chandigarh's master plan in
1951, got CCA & PEC established as a part of the Chandigarh
Experiment.
• Punjab Engineering College (PEC) having its roots in Lahore as
Mugalpura Engineering College since 1921, towards the end of December
1953, the college moved to its present campus in 1953 as PEC to function
under Govt. of Punjab.
• There are 9 Departments and 4 Centres of Excellence

•TOPOGRAPHY- Chandigarh is located in the
foothills of the Shivalik hill ranges in the north,
which form a part of the fragile Himalayan

•CLIMATIC CONDITIONS-Chandigarh enjoys an extreme climate with hot summers
(March to June) and chilly winters (November to February). The monsoon season,
though pleasant in the evenings, is humid during the daytime.
•Winter temperature: 4-14°C
Summer temperature: 37-44°C
Annual rainfall: around 111.4 cm

•The lush green campus has restricted motorized vehicular movement.
