POLITICAL AGENDA
In the painting Spoliarium Rizal was footnoted in his speech that the Spoliarium,
"embodied the essence of our social, moral and political life: humanity in severe ordeal,
humanity unredeemed, reason and idealism in open struggle with prejudice, fanaticism and
injustice. Similar to the art Guernica by Pablo Picasso they have the same essence, to portray
inequality and injustice on their town or country at that time.
THE ARTIST
Pablo Picasso and Juan Luna has the same in the way of creating a magnificent art,
they both create the art that the audience realize the truth and reality improper happens, so
they know what's going on in their place at the time. Pablo Picasso draw the art Guernica
because of his outrage on bombing of civilians by a military air force, and Juan Luna whant
to interpret that was all about the bloodied bodies of gladiators, who were drawn as slaves;
and dragged away from the wide and powerful arena as they attempted to fight their Roman
oppressors, with their own precious and God given lives. In addition, these slaves on this
world-renowned painting of Juan Luna were physically stripped of their clothing in order to
gratify the lewd and devilish contempt of those Roman oppressors. Thus, this had excellently
embodied the essence of the political, moral and social lives of the Filipino.
The Message of the two art form was really clear and straight to the heart of their audience.
