Introduction

CC Essay APA 1
In todays society there are many issues, problems, dilemmas. However one wants to call
it, America has a lot. America is facing a possible conflict that could lead to a War due to events
that have occurred corresponding with ISIS. The US is also have elections that many considering
trouble since Donald Trump might win and become the most influential person in America.
Another issue is climate change, the Earth's temperature is becoming unsettlingly different, and
this problem alone could cause a change reaction to far more problematic situations.
Climate Change? An issue? America today has been debating on whether to address it as
such. Many Americans believe it not to be true because of a similar claim made in the 1970s.
Others believe that Climate Change is all a hoax, which the government is just creating this
problem as a form of capitalism. To have people purchase expensive energy saving appliances
or devices. Such as eco-friendly light bulbs and solar panels. Is it all just a convoluted way of
consumerism or is this an actual issue that can endanger us all, with polar ice caps melting and
rising sea levels.
Global Warming is Real!
Many Americans believe that Climate Change is a real issue due to overwhelming
evidence seen and presented by multitude of scientists. One argument to this side is that one
could see that Climate Change is real due to the rising amounts of CO2, that has been caused by
human industrialization. As Al Gore stated (2015) In Cooks graph it bases on the comparison
of atmospheric samples contained in ice cores and more recent direct measurements, provides
evidence that atmospheric CO2 has increased since the Industrial Revolution. It is due to the
jutting temperatures scientist have concluded, and explained to the public that it all leads to our
submissions of CO2 such as from cars, factories, ect. creating more greenhouse gases which
affect the Earths atmosphere retaining more heat. Leading to the other argument that is proven

by data taken of recent temperatures. This data has shown the temperatures rising in more current
times. According to the Global Climate Change Indicators (NOAA 2015) Temperatures on
earth have increased approximately 1.4F since the early 20th century, Having the public see
this data they have become supportive of Climate Change being an issue along with one last
argument that due to the last. Which proof of polar ice caps and glaciers melting, which also lead
to the most serious issue of rising sea levels. Most importantly is what many have seen in media
is the Antarctica diminishing, with polars endangered, few ice sheets and more water. As stated
by Walsh (NCA 2014), Rising temperatures across the U.S. have reduced lake ice, sea ice,
glaciers, and seasonal snow cover over the last few decades. In the Great Lakes, for example,
total winter ice coverage has decreased by 63% since the early 1970. This proof has also gotten
many people to support; one could even search in Google Earth and see that size of Antarctica is
much smaller in comparison to years past.
Climate Change, a Hoaxl!
While most of the evidence for Climate change appears to be vast, on the other side
arguments against this claim seem to numerous too. The justification is that the Earth is just
going through a natural cycle of heating and cooling. One that seen in earlier years of Earths that
was similar to this phenomenon was studied. Earth had lived through rapid global warming
before. About 55 million years ago global temperatures spiked.(Barras 2015). This evidence
most disputes the whole point of people acting if this were the new phenomenon, while also
proving the point of climate change being caused by people. If it turns out that is a natural
occurrence, then that would mean climate change does not exist and it just a ploy. Another
common reasoning is that a there was a claim that was similar to Global Warming, which was
what was called Global Cooling. In Earth had lived through rapid global warming before.

Having a similar statement used by environmentalist and have the same amount of concern as
this phenomenon, but just have some much acclaimed disappear with no disclaimer damages
their credibility.
Personal Position
Although both claims seem to have conniving arguments, there is just far more evidence
on the side of Climate Change existing, rather than it not existing. According to Cimon(2015),
At least 70 percent of Americans now believe that global warming during the last 40 years is
real and supported by solid evidence, coinciding with the lowest percentage of Americans who
doubt climate change. To have so many Americans now believing in this change is not all too
surprising due to the evidence given. Also, one of the most common arguments is also having to
do with the melting ice, as mentioned. The position against has tried to be disproven with the
argument made by Taylor (2015), growing sea ice around Antarctica, and thereby suggesting
that this trend undermines broader concerns about polar ice melt. However this is not entirely
the half of the issue, even if the ice is coming back, it still retreats in greater number. Taylor
seems not to the know what polar ice is since the central claim is snow melting off of lands that
would cause a rise in levels .
In Conclusion
Overall although most of the reasoning against Climate change has some good points,
such as global cooling. Evidence to prove Climate Change is sufficient enough to back any
reason the opposite side uses to demonstrate it nonexistent. Since most data is accurate, but it
seems that the opposite side interprets what is said and presented incorrectly.
