Communicates with other Amazon Alexa compatible smart-home devices. Display auto-dims when you turn out the lights. Works great as an alarm clock.

Other things to know:  5½-inch screen. Comes with a manual lens cover for privacy  and a mute button for the microphone. Has video and calling abilities, but sounds a little worse than other Echo devices, and its microphone picked up less sound than other Echos.
