High Reliability and Rapid Deployment

Our solution guarantees high 9s uptime, ensuring your enterprise operates without interruptions. Rapid deployment and the ability to augment or cost-effectively replace traditional MPLS networks make our SD-WAN ideal for enterprises seeking to transform their network infrastructures into more efficient and manageable systems.

Optimized Application Performance

Mushroom’s SD-WAN framework utilizes overlay IP tunnels that monitor, learn, and react in real-time to shield network problems from the application layer. Services like live video, VoIP, unified communications, chatty applications, file transfers, or other application flows are mapped onto corresponding overlay tunnels optimized for metrics crucial to that flow type (latency, throughput, jitter, packet loss, etc.), improving reliability, predictability, and overall performance without human intervention.

Branch WAN on Autopilot

Single WAN-based inter-office connections (MPLS or VPN) cannot dynamically react to transport performance fluctuations. Mushroom’s next-generation SD-WAN takes BGP or OSPF routing algorithms to the next level, where packets can be steered around network problems in real-time without slow route updates. Special application-centric VNFs (Virtual Network Functions) optimize paths on a per-packet basis automatically, keeping flows alive and performing even during brownouts or ISP blackouts, without human intervention.

Mushroom devices install transparently in pass-through between your existing network and existing modems. You can either replace your firewall with the Mushroom appliance or if you prefer, you can keep your existing firewall intact.

Centralized Cloud-based Management

Historically, networking gear has been difficult to install, manage, and monitor, usually requiring on-site qualified IT personnel. Utilizing software-defined techniques, Mushroom Networks separates the control and data planes, creating a centralized, cloud-based controller that manages the endpoints. This significantly simplifies large-scale deployments of SD-WAN appliances.

In-depth Visibility and Telemetry

Legacy monitoring methods often provide non-actionable information and logs. Mushroom’s SD-WAN provides powerful, in-depth time-series data collected and processed in the background. Application performance optimization intelligence is built into the overlay tunnels. Additionally, in-band or out-of-band monitoring probes can be included to provide real-time, actionable network intelligence based on targeted metrics.

Instant Zero-touch Installation

Mushroom’s SD-WAN appliances can be preconfigured via templates before shipment, enabling zero-touch installation at the site. Further configuration changes can be done remotely. For locations without wired internet (delayed ISP turn-ups), Mushroom’s multi-SIM LTE/5G cellular bonding devices provide instant turn-ups.

WHY REPLACE MPLS?

MPLS Cannot Route Internet Traffic Locally

Since MPLS transport lacks Layer 3 routing capabilities, packets in and out of branch offices must go through the service provider’s MPLS gateway core, meaning all traffic, including web browsing or public cloud, traverses the expensive MPLS circuits.

High MPLS Cost

Until recently, MPLS was the only viable option for connecting geographically distributed offices with low latency. However, the high cost per bit compared to broadband internet makes SD-WAN a better alternative. For gradual migrations, MPLS augmentation with SD-WAN offers better value than expensive MPLS upgrades.

MPLS Single Point of Failure

Although advertised as highly available, MPLS is still vulnerable to failures like carrier technical issues. Since MPLS primarily relies on a single provider and transport, it creates a single point of failure.

Long Lead Times and Limited Bandwidth

MPLS upgrades for higher bandwidth may not be possible or cost-prohibitive in some cases. MPLS installation and upgrade lead times can be impractically long, eliminating it as an option.

MUSHROOM SD-WAN VERSUS MPLS

Agile Traffic Management

Mushroom’s SD-WAN enables easy QoS and traffic management, so internet traffic can be routed locally without consuming the branch-to-datacenter or inter-branch point-to-point tunnels, significantly reducing tunnel traffic.

Cost-Effective MPLS Augmentation

Since cost-effective broadband internet lines can be aggregated with Mushroom’s SD-WAN, the overlay IP connectivity will have boosted QoS metrics, creating an attractive MPLS alternative to augment or completely replace MPLS circuits at a significantly lower total cost of ownership.

Boosted Reliability with High Uptime

With various connectivity options (MPLS, DSL, cable, fiber, 3G, 4G, LTE, 5G), office connectivity is no longer tied to a single point of failure. With Mushroom’s VNF tunnels, ongoing sessions will remain alive during blackouts or brownouts on any internet connection.

Rapid Rollout and Installation

New location installation and rollout can be completed within minutes by drop-shipping preconfigured units to the branch. Installation lead times are significantly faster than MPLS. Mushroom’s multi-SIM cellular SD-WAN appliances enable instant rollouts for mobile or temporary offices.

VOIP & UC PERFORMANCE

UC/VoIP Moving to the Cloud

Some or all SBC and PBX functions are moving to private or public clouds. However, VoIP/SIP and Unified Communications (UC) traffic flows and associated end-user experiences are prone to high latency, packet loss, and jitter due to ISP last-mile problems, core network congestion, or cross-traffic.

Cloud-Delivered VoIP/UC

Mushroom appliances can peer with each other to create a secure, encrypted multi-path (multi-WAN) VoIP Armor tunnel from your branch office to your private or public cloud. The VoIP Armor tunnel monitors all paths in real-time and steers VoIP/SIP and video conferencing packets around network problems, keeping real-time application flows healthy with high end-user experience.

Elastic Static IP

VoIP Armor optimizes your last mile for VoIP/SIP flows by leveraging multi-path real-time packet steering without dropping ongoing calls, even during WAN disconnects. Since Mushroom Relays (in your private or public cloud) have unchanging static IP addresses, your IP-PBX and office phones are 100% shielded from network problems.

CLOUD PERFORMANCE

Public Clouds - SaaS

Your organization may use SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) applications like CRM, ERP, email, UC, file transfer/storage, and more delivered over the WAN. Mushroom’s application-specific overlay tunnels optimize your WAN and application performance for a flawless SaaS experience.

Private Clouds

If running application and service workloads in your private cloud, connectivity performance to your data center is critical. Your branch’s WAN performance, especially for latency and bandwidth-sensitive workloads, determines application performance. Mushroom’s overlay tunnels create high-performance, highly available IP connectivity to your data center.

Virtual Private Clouds - IaaS

If your workloads run in off-premise Virtual Private Clouds, the IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) hosted in Amazon, Microsoft, or Google Clouds heavily relies on the branch office WAN performance. Mushroom’s SD-WAN technology ensures optimal end-user experience for these virtual private cloud use cases by intelligently orchestrating your WAN links without human intervention.

Traffic Management

Mushroom’s advanced yet flexible routing capabilities provide pinpoint granularity to route flows over desired paths. Tunnels and WAN links can be logically grouped into Virtual interfaces with load balancing and failover policies, working hand-in-hand with advanced QoS capabilities that precisely fit your business requirements.

SECURITY

Mushroom’s physical and virtual appliances are hardened and secured with a built-in firewall. Base firewall capabilities are included, and ongoing firmware updates ensure new security patches protect your network. With the optional Cloud Relay Service, appliances connect to Mushroom-operated Cloud Relays using multi-path overlay tunnels that support AES-128 and AES-256 encryption to protect against eavesdropping, tampering, and message forgery, leveraging TLS 1.2 with SRP for authentication and protection against dictionary attacks. Cloud Relays use a secure network architecture with strict traffic flow policies. Comprehensive monitoring detects threats like DoS, DDoS, flooding, software/logic attacks, MITM, IP spoofing, port scanning, and packet sniffing. Redundant providers and additional capacity protect against DoS attacks.
