TRAIL

Pictured is the Quarry Gap Shelter, located about 2.5 miles north from Caledonia State Park on the Appalachian Trail. It is one of the best shelters on the AT. (Ed Riggs photograph)

Gimme shelter.

We all need a place to stay; a place to call home, and a place where we feel protected. If we are out on a long-distance hike, that desire becomes a priority, and if you happen to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, it is easier to find shelter – a home for the night – than you might think.
