The RIDOT Environmental Division provides guidance to RIDOT personnel, designers, contractors, state and municipal partners, and the general public, relative to environmental regulations and requirements that must be complied with and may be encountered as part of fulfilling the Department’s mission.Â
The RIDOT Environmental Division role is to ensure the implementation of quality environmental policies, procedures and practices in the development of transportation improvements through each of the Department's core processes: plan, scope, design, construction and maintain. Coordinate with federal and state environmental resource and regulatory agencies in the development and implementation of environmental processes and procedures consistent with environmental laws and regulations to assist the Department in achieving its mission.
