This weekend, as part of our ongoing Route 146 improvements, we’re closing Route 146A South at Route 146 in North Smithfield. This will allow us to demolish the old Spring Brook Bridge, carrying Route 146 North over Route 146A South. Please follow signed detour.

Henderson Bridge, East Providence

Loam and sidewalk installation requires the daytime closure of East River Street/River Drive, from Waterman Street to Angell Street, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please follow signed detours. Motorists can also anticipate one-lane in each direction across the Henderson Bridge for barrier work, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick

Survey work at the Broad Street and Eddy Street bridges is slated for next week, involving alternating lane closures on I-95 North, from just past Broad Street to just before Eddy Street, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Bridge demolition at the I-95/Exit 37 interchange requires the temporary closure of various ramps within the interchange, Sunday-Thursday nights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours. Barrier and drainage work also involves alternating lane closures on I-95, from Exit 37 to Exit 39, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Lapham and Pascoag River Bridges, Burrillville

Earlier this week, we paved the final riding surface on Route 102, and installed rumble strip, temporary striping, and guardrail. Schedule and weather permitting, we plan to reopen Route 102 to traffic on Monday, during which time we will also deactivate the temporary traffic signal at East Avenue/ Harrisville Main Street. Minor construction activity with limited traffic impacts will follow over the next few weeks.

Little Compton/Tiverton Pavement Improvements

Over the next two weeks, we are scheduled to place loam, stripe, and place asphalt at the driveway aprons in Tiverton, with alternating lane closures on Route 77 (Main Road), from Bridgeport Road to Central Avenue, and on Highland Road, from Bridgeport Road to Main Road, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are also scheduled to install guardrail in Little Compton. This will involve alternating lane closures on East Main Road, from Simmons Road to Peckham Road, Meeting House Lane, from Main Road to Commons Street, and Simmons Road, from Willow Road to East Main Road, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

Next week at the 6/10, we are scheduled to install bridge joints along Route 6 East. This will require the closure of the ramp from Route 6 East to Route 10 South on Monday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and alternating lane closures from the Plainfield Street on-ramp to the 6/10 merge, Monday-Friday (November 22) nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. We also need to close the ramp from Route 10 South to Union Avenue for pavement milling on Wednesday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick

Bridge Group 51A: Pontiac Avenue to Post Road (see photo above)


An overnight striping operation is planned at the I-95 South ramp to Route 37, requiring alternating lane closures on the ramp, Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Bridge Group 51B: I-295 area (see photo below)


On Thursday night, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., we are scheduled to install steel girders at the bridge carrying both directions of Route 37 over I-295 South. This will involve short-duration rolling roadblocks on I-295 South in the vicinity of Route 37. We’ll also have a right lane closure for roadway widening on I-295 North, from Exit 7 (Resource Recovery) to Exit 9 (Route 6), Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m.- 5 a.m.  Daytime activities include bridge construction on Cranston Street, below Route 37, with alternating one-way traffic weekdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and behind barrier roadway construction on I-295 North at Exit 3B (Route 37 West), weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please follow signed detours and be mindful of frequent vehicle access in/out of all work zones.

Route 146 Reconstruction Project, Lincoln/North Smithfield

Tonight at 9 p.m. through Monday morning at 6 a.m., we’re closing Route 146A South at Route 146 in North Smithfield. We will also reduce Route 146 North to one lane of travel at Route 146A. This will allow us to remove the old Spring Brook Bridge and make room to widen the new one.



Next week, overnight bridge construction requires alternating lane or full closures detoured to the service roads on Route 146, from Exit 8A to Exit 8C, and the Route 146 North and South Services roads and their corresponding exits (18B for I-295 North, and 18A for I-295 South), Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists can also expect the closure of Exit 18A (Route 146 South) off I-295 North for road construction, and Exit 8A (I-295 North) off Route 146 South and a rolling roadblock on both directions of Route 146, from Exit 8A to Exit 8C, for bridge construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow the signed detours during all closures.

Tower Hill Road Bridge and Paving, North/South Kingstown

Daytime sidewalk improvements involve the closure and narrowing of lanes, frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zone, and driveways/walkways blocked on Route 1 (Tower Hill Road), between Bridge View Court, Karison Street and Bridgetown Road, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Working behind barrier with frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zone, our crews will also be doing bridge work at the Routes 138 and 1 ramps, Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Washington Bridge & I-195, East Providence/ Providence

Motorists can anticipate the closures of up to two lanes for bridge preventative maintenance on I-195 East, from Exit 1A (India Street) to Exit 1B-C (Taunton Avenue/Riverside), from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the closure of Exit 1B/C off I-195 East, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday-Thursday nights. Please follow signed detours.



We’ll also have a left lane closure for overnight electrical work on I-195 East, from the Providence River Bridge to the India Point Park Pedestrian Bridge, Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Also, we will be doing overhead electronic message sign preventative maintenance which will require a left lane closure adjacent to Exit 1A off I-195 East, Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., and a right shoulder closure at the Gano Street on-ramp to I-195 West, Thursday night from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

West River Street Bridge, Providence

As motorists continue to detour around the closed bridge, we are working to install the gas main and water line, backfill and compact the roadway surface, finalize the approach slabs, and pave.
