There is increasing pressure on the government to act against dangerous bright LED headlights as motorists wait for the results of a review into the issue. The RAC last year called on the Government to commission an independent study into the issue of headlight glare after finding in a survey of 2000 drivers that nine in 10 think at least some headlights on cars on the road today are too bright. In a separate AA poll, three quarters said they have been 'blinded' by oncoming headlights, according to AA president Edmund King.

Are 20mph speed limits coming to roads near you? Councils propose blanket restrictions that could affect MILLIONS of drivers
New 20mph blanket speed limits could be introduced across the UK affecting millions of drivers. Birmingham and Scotland are the latest parts of the UK set to make residential roads 20mph. Electric car range problems could be solved by new solar paint that charges them from the skies... But it won't be available for 15 YEARS
Mercedes is developing a solar paint that generates enough electricity to power a car, bringing an end to what is known as 'range anxiety'. In the manufacturer's home city of Stuttgart - which gets only slightly more sunshine than the UK - the paint could power a vehicle for around 7,500 miles in a year. But in sunnier climates the paint could, in theory, meet all travel needs and generate so much electricity that the driver could use the excess in their home. The paint uses photovoltaic technology, which converts solar energy into electricity through a semiconductor material.

First glimpse of Jaguar's make-or-break electric car: £100k EV spied testing
The British manufacturer, which has stopped selling cars in the UK for 12 months, has released images of the battery-powered model it hopes will spearhead its EV rebrand. Pictures show a heavily camouflaged prototype of its make-or-break electric car due to be released in 2026 as it embarks on the first phase of a top secret global testing programme that will run for months. The four-door grand tourer will be one of three new premium EV models it has promised, with prices to start from just under £100,000.
2024's most controversial car: Ford caused uproar by announcing its new electric SUV is called Capri - now we've driven it to find out if it's worthy of carrying the iconic name
The new Ford Capri - which has garnered a lot of online outrage - has finally launched. The EV coupe-SUV is a.£48k family car with 389 miles of range. We went to Marseille to give it its global first drive to see if it is worthy of carrying one of the greatest British car nameplates of all time.

A look inside Jaguar Land Rover's new EV test facility
Car makers slash new EV prices by up to a THIRD in desperate bid to meet binding end-of-year sales targets
The ZEV mandate forces car makers to increase their share of EV sales from now until 2030. Failure to hit targets could result in fines of £15k per electric car below the required quota. New data from Auto Trader suggests some manufacturers falling short of this year's threshold are slashing prices by amounts similar to the financial penalties to shift more stock.

Just ONE new car launched in the last year has this traditional interior part - which was once in all motors but is now nearing extinction
A once omnipresent car component that millions of drivers on the road have learned to use and grown to love is nearing extinction, according to a new report. Just one out of 42 new cars launched in the last 12 months has the feature - and fewer than one in ten models in showrooms today have one, despite the item formerly being a staple of every interior.

Want to buy a new diesel car? Fat chance of finding one in a showroom! Number of available models has plummeted 68% in a decade
Drivers are finding it increasingly difficult to get their hands on new diesel cars as manufacturers have dramatically slashed their availability in Britain, new industry analysis has revealed. Motorists in the UK are 'running out of options' when it comes to purchasing models with diesel engines as car makers discontinue them across their ranges and the number of new diesel models falling to record low levels. In fact, almost half of mainstream brands have killed off diesel engines entirely in 2024 - we reveal which popular marques no longer sell them.
CLASSIC CARS AND AUCTIONS
Time capsule Ford Escort RS Cosworth sells for world record price: The 32-year-old boy racer with 2,200 miles on the clock makes £202,500 at auction
The rare nineties boy racer has clocked a mere 2,221 miles from new with only two previous keepers. And the latter reportedly stored it in the living room of his home for years. Following what auctioneers described as a 'frenzied bidding war' between two parties vying for the keys at the weekend, the price rapidly escalated and soon eclipsed the previous record.
Rare 'junkyard' 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Alloy Gullwing that's been kept in a barn for 47 YEARS and hit with a forklift truck sells for £7m
The Mercedes is one of just 29 lightweight aluminium-bodies examples of the German marque's most famous sports cars. However, this one hasn't had the cherished life it arguably deserved. Instead, it has been crashed into with a forklift truck, stripped of its parts and left to the elements in a barn for decades by its previous owner. The dilapidated fifties classic was sold at the weekend in Los Angeles alongside around 70 vehicles found in a 'lost collection', many of them in a similar - if not worse - state of disrepair having been unearthed from the 'greatest barnfind ever'.
