A smirking rapist who used Grindr to find his victims chillingly told officers that one of the men he attacked 'wanted it' and claimed detectives had subjected him to 'degrading treatment'. Dr Mohammed Altaher, originally from Iraq but living in Bedford, was jailed for 10 years and given a five-year sentence extension after he raped two men, who did not know each other, at his home in August and September 2019. His case featured in the latest episode of Channel 4 's 24 Hours in Police Custody on Monday night and shocking footage was shown of Altaher's interview with Bedfordshire Police's Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team. Whilst being questioned at Luton Police station over the offences, the AI specialist said he was 'surprised and shocked' after being accused of pushing one man onto his bed and raping him. When asked about this incident, he confidently told officers: 'I'm sorry he can handle bigger than mine. He wanted it.'

Illegal crossings at the southern border were the lowest in years on Sunday, with sources telling Fox News that less than 600 people illegally crossed the border from Mexico on January 26.

Five years on, however, the project appears to have run aground after its millionaire mastermind was ordered to pay almost £750,000 to a British design company following a legal dispute over unpaid invoices. A high court judge said Carl Le Souef, the Australian entrepreneur and co-founder of Somnio, the company behind the scheme, had adopted a 'cagey approach' when cross-examined about where financial responsibility for the scheme lay. Mr Le Souef, who drew inspiration for the concept during a 2007 stay on another exclusive residential ship, MS The World, denied personal responsibility for the financial aspects of the project, including initial sketches produced by Winch Design, a London-based studio that creates bespoke homes, yachts and aircraft. But Lesley Anderson KC, a deputy judge in the chancery division of the high court, said Mr Le Souef, who had been 'presented as being a man of some wealth', bore responsibility for a deal worth £5 million in total, ordering him to pay Winch Design £733,750.

Two burglaries at homes in Bath, Somerset, have been linked by police, who have released CCTV showing one of the offenders. The suspected thefts, which are thought to have involved two men, happened on the evening of Tuesday November 19 in the Widcombe area of the city. Footage from the first floor of the landing shows one of the men quietly opening a bedroom door before spotting the camera above his head. He then decides to kneel down on the floor in an attempt to avoid being filmed, crouching below the camera. But the video continues to show him walking back before he disappears into shadows near the top of the stairs.

People have been paying tribute following the news that the internet's 'favourite therapy dog', Norbert (pictured) has died aged 15. The sad announcement was made on Instagram, on his page Norbertthedog, which has almost 900,000 followers. Norbert was adopted by Julie Steines, who is based in Los Angeles , when he was four months old, back in 2009. Julie herself trained him to be therapy dog by the time he was one. The tiny 3lb (1.3kg) pooch helped thousands of people over 13 years, including numerous patients at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
