Authorities seized over three grams of suspected cocaine, cash and paraphernalia on Dec. 19, during a search of the residence of a Waverly man, according to a criminal complaint.
Steven Farrell, 54, of 102 Fairington Lane, owner and broker of Classic Properties based in Clarks Summit, is facing a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and having drug paraphernalia.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Dec. 19, officers applied for a search warrant of Farrell’s residence following a controlled buy as part of an investigation.
The Lackawnna County District Attorney’s office approved the warrant and it issued out of the office of District Judge Laura Turlip.
At about 9 p.m., Taylor borough police officers and members of the Lackawanna County Drug Task Force entered the residence.
Farrell became aware of the presence of law enforcement at his home through his security system.
He spoke with police officers over the phone and returned to his residence.
Officer Matthew McDonald asked Farrell if he had anything illegal inside the house or was using any narcotic drugs.
Farrell said he didn’t believe there was anything illegal inside his residence.
He then admitted he was a cocaine user, police said.
When officers asked him when the last time was that he used the drug, Farrell said he wanted to speak with his attorney, according to the complaint.
Officers ceased questioning him and Farrell was taken into custody.
The search of Farrell’s residence yielded 3.36 grams of cocaine, cocaine residue on the kitchen counter, $290 in currency, identified as part of the previous controlled buy, a cell phone and a marijuana cigarette, according to the compliant.
Farrell is out on $35,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 2 before District Judge Paul Ware.
