Medicare
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older and for those under age 65 with Social Security disability benefits for 24 months.
Medigap
Many companies market policies - known as Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap) - to cover the deductibles and co-insurance gaps that remain the patient’s responsibility under Medicare.
These policies vary widely in benefits and price. The wise consumer will seek objective advice before buying a policy.
Medicare Savings
Certain low-income Medicare beneficiaries are entitled to have their Medicare premiums paid for by their state Medicaid program. Some of these people are also entitled to have Medicaid pay for their Medicare deductibles and coinsurance. These programs are referred to as buy-in programs
