Outreach
Through outreach, we proactively meet with communities and civil society groups to inform them about our work. We engage the private sector, governments, and other stakeholders with the goal of promoting environmental and social accountability and good practice in relation to grievance redress.
Overview
In line with CAOâs mandate, we ensure access to recourse for communities affected by IFC and MIGA projects. CAO seeks to enhance interactions with all stakeholders in the following ways:
-
Publishing CAO's Policies, Operational Guidelines, Terms of References, annual reports, information brochures, best practices and other materials in the official languages of the World Bank Group, and additional languages as necessary
-
Meeting with potentially affected people and their representatives, upon request
-
Disseminating information about CAO in the markets where IFC and MIGA are present through civil society organizations, World Bank Group offices, partner independent accountability mechanisms, the business community, academia, and other organizations
-
Conducting outreach to local, national, and international civil society and other stakeholders, to provide information and share knowledge about CAOâs work
-
Seeking advice from experts with in-country and regional knowledge to improve CAOâs communications with stakeholders and CAOâs accessibility to potentially affected people
-
Being responsive to local constraints that may impede peoplesâ ability to access CAOâs services and participate in CAO processes
