Food News and Trends Trends We Tried Bills Mafia-Style Pepsi AKA Pepsi and Buffalo Sauce And it had our jaws on the floor. Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Published on September 28, 2023 As certified foodies who are always up on the newest trends, we’ve seen some pretty weird (and sometimes gimmicky) food combos. You’d think after seeing things like dirty soda and Pringles with caviar, we wouldn’t be surprised by much anymore. But when we saw Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen add Buffalo sauce to a glass of Pepsi, we were stopped in our tracks. Getty Images/Allrecipes In a video shared to the Buffalo Bills’ X (formerly Twitter) account, Allen adds a pretty hefty pour of Buffalo sauce to a glass of what he later confirmed to be Pepsi Zero Sugar. Even the Bills’ account called him out, saying, “You’ve taken this Pepsi deal way too far…” alluding to the PepsiCo partnership deal that Allen struck up earlier this year. “It’s not about my Pepsi deal, you know I’m always team blue,” Allen responded. After the video, which has amassed over 2.5 million views, was posted, Pepsi dropped a tutorial from Allen showing customers how to “Buffalo Your Pepsi”—which, of course, just means adding a few glugs of Buffalo sauce to your favorite Pepsi variety. And, because Bills Mafia will do almost anything to support its team, Buffalo Pepsi is having a moment on social media with dozens of Instagram and TikTok users trying the concoction. It’s a total “Mean Girls” moment—I saw Josh Allen put Buffalo sauce in his Pepsi, so now I put Buffalo sauce in my Pepsi. However, it could also be because Pepsi is giving away Bills merch signed by Josh Allen to a handful of people who share their Buffalo Pepsi creations on X or Instagram. It doesn't matter if Allen actually spices up his Pepsi with Buffalo sauce or not, because it seems we fell for it, too—yes, we tried Buffalo Pepsi a.k.a. Bills Mafia Pepsi. Pepsi We Tried Buffalo Pepsi—Here's What It Tastes Like We saw a few comments that compared Allen’s Buffalo Pepsi to a Michelada, which is typically made with Mexican beer, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices or a Bloody Mary, which is made with tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and vodka. But, we’ll burst your bubble right now—it’s not like either one of those. You really can’t compare Buffalo Pepsi to anything because it’s in its own category of beverage. Going in, there’s no denying that we were nervous about the taste—no matter how much you like hot sauce, it seems weird to add it to your pop. But the combo actually surprised us. It’s not great by any means, but it’s also not bad. Let’s put it this way: we willingly returned for many more sips to determine the flavor, and all without gagging once. “Swicy” (sweet and spicy) foods are all the rage right now, and Buffalo Pepsi definitely fits into that label. It almost tastes like a Pepsi Wild Cherry but with a bit of heat in the back of your throat. Even though we didn't hate it, we don’t think we’ll be enjoying Buffalo Pepsi ever again. We’d rather stick to Patrick Mahomes’ guilty pleasure or Travis Kelce's French toast for our game day fuel. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
