Grandma's Rice Pudding

My grandma used to make this for my mom, and she made it for me. It's just like hot rice pudding and so yummy served with cinnamon!

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • ½ cup long-grain rice

  • 1 cup 2% milk

  • ½ (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Bring water and rice to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and water has been absorbed, about 20 minutes.

  2. Add milk, evaporated milk, sugar, and butter; stir well and cook until creamy, about 20 minutes more. Sprinkle with cinnamon, then serve.

Cook's Note:

Do not use instant rice in this recipe.
