How to Make Spring Rolls

You’ll find the full, step-by-step recipe below — but here’s a brief overview of what you can expect when you make Vietnamese spring rolls:

What Is a Spring Roll?

Spring rolls are appetizers that consist of a savory filling in a paper-thin wrapper made from flour and water. The exterior is so thin and crispy, it will shatter to the touch. Spring roll wrappers are thinner and more delicate than egg roll wrappers.

Vietnamese spring rolls (or gỏi cuốn) contain pork, shrimp, rice vermicelli noodles, and vegetables in a rice paper wrapper.

How to Store Spring Rolls

Because the rice paper wrappers are prone to drying out and cracking, try to eat the spring rolls as soon as you make them. If you have leftovers, wrap each spring roll in storage wrap and store in the fridge for up to three days.

“This was excellent,” raves Rita Davis. “I added some slivered carrots and daikon radish for extra crunch.”

“It was quite easy to find everything I needed at a small Asian market 10 minutes from my house,” says Wendy Vance. “It was easy to make and delicious. I made a peanut sauce instead of the two sauces mentioned in the recipe. It complimented the rolls wonderfully!”

“This was super simple and very easy to assemble,” according to angelinamarie3. “Perfect combination to mimic what you would get at a traditional restaurant. They held together well and tasted great.”
