This mimosa recipe features the perfect ratio of Champagne-to-orange juice. You’ll never make mimosas the same way again!

How to Make Mimosas

You'll find a detailed ingredient list and step-by-step instructions in the recipe below, but let's go over the basics:

What Is a Mimosa?

A mimosa is a 2-ingredient cocktail made with orange juice and Champagne. The drink, which gets its name from the yellow-flowered mimosa plant, is commonly served at brunch or at daytime celebrations.

What’s In a Mimosa?

The mixing ratio of mimosas varies, but our mimosa recipe is one part orange juice and three parts Champagne. This recipe makes two servings, so make sure to divide it evenly between two glasses.

How to Make a Mimosa

Simply divide the orange juice between two Champagne glasses and top Champagne. That’s it! Find the full, step-by-step recipe below for detailed instructions.

Recipe Tip

Make sure both ingredients are thoroughly chilled before making the mimosas.

What Kind of Champagne Is Best for Mimosas?

Opt for a Champagne bottle that says “brut” or “extra brut” on the label. This means the bubbly is on the drier side, which is perfect for balancing the sweetness of orange juice.

Can You Use Prosecco for Mimosas?

Yes! In fact, many people prefer using prosecco for mimosas because it’s usually more budget-friendly and it has a slightly fruitier flavor. You can substitute prosecco for Champagne using a 1:1 ratio.

How Many Mimosas Can You Make With a Bottle of Champagne?

If you have a 750 mL bottle of Champagne, this recipe will make about 8.5 mimosas.

Can You Make a Big Batch of Mimosas?

While you technically can mix up a big batch of mimosas before an event and it will still be delicious, the results will be much fizzier and crisper if you pour the Champagne over the orange juice just before serving.

“Add a maraschino cherry or two,” suggests Moira Russell.

“This is definitely a part of our Thanksgiving tradition,” according to MARYSUNSHINE1. “My daughter, daughter-in-law and I gather in the kitchen to cook Thanksgiving dinner and sip on mimosas. I couldn't imagine Thanksgiving without these.”
