Pop-Tarts’ New Flavor Is an Upgraded Version of an Old Favorite

One of our favorite nostalgic brands just dropped a new flavor (that’s sort of similar to an old flavor) that has us dreaming of devouring it for quick breakfasts and late-night snacks this upcoming winter.

As if they needed any introduction, Pop-Tarts are toaster pastries with a sweet filling, sometimes frosted on the top, that come two to a pack. When they were first introduced, Pop-Tarts offered four flavors: strawberry, blueberry, apple currant, and brown sugar. Frosting, and dozens of other flavors, came later.

When some flavors are discontinued, fans—armed with the power of social media to get the brand’s attention—demand they want their favorite varieties back. Sometimes, the brand gives them what they want, such as Pumpkin Pie (which returns seasonally). Sometimes, it brings a flavor back with a new twist. Pop-Tarts latest new flavor has one of those twists.

Limited-Edition Frosted Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Pop-Tarts

Sometime in the 2010s, Pop-Tarts released a limited-time Frosted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate flavor with marshmallow filling, chocolate pastry, and frosting with little chocolate bits in it. But fans haven’t seen that variety in some time. The new Frosted Marshmallow Hot Cocoa looks very similar, the main difference being the frosting does not have the chocolate bits.

Pop-Tarts describes the toaster pastries as “bringing the cozy vibes of the classic wintertime drink.” The dough features cacao, and the filling is “ooey gooey marshmallow.” On top of what looks like vanilla frosting are “fun holiday prints for some extra fun wintertime spirit.” The box notes there are “up to 10 designs,” so the one shown on the box is just one of the holiday prints that you may find on your toaster pastry.
