If your dessert of choice comes in the form of a bakery item, there’s no better place to get your fill than Costco. The warehouse store’s bakery cakes, pies, and cookies are often the stuff of legends. And now, according to chatter on Instagram, there’s a new pie in the famous bakery section: a 4-pound pie that even Costco employees are raving about. Costco Bakery's New 4-Pound Chocolate Cream Pie Laura Lamb of Instagram’s Costohotfinds spotted a new 4-pound triple chocolate cream pie at her local Costco Bakery. “A small slice goes a long way. So rich and delicious!!” she wrote in the caption. In the video, she describes the pie as having a “butter graham cracker crust that’s topped with a fudge brownie layer then a fluffy chocolate custard” and says, “The whipped topping is so light and soft.” It's no wonder that the pie is 4 pounds with all those layers. It’s also one of the most expensive Costco bakery pies we’ve ever seen, priced at $19.99. If Laura is right about how rich the pie is, a small slice will suffice, so you could presumably serve 10 to 12 people with this pie. Or not—because not everyone can resist diving into the entire thing. “They need to sell those by the slice at the food court, if I buy than ima eat the whole 4 lbs in 2 days,” one commenter said. But others are perfectly willing to share it. “Every time when I see a cake or pie here I want to try but I think what I’m going to do with the rest of it after I try it. I can’t finish it alone and my neighbors are tired of me sharing cakes.” But what can you do if you’re just one person and you can’t resist a 4-pound triple chocolate cream pie? Freeze slices for another time. “Freeze it,” one commenter said. “We’ve done that with their peanut butter pies and they last a decent amount. You get your moneys worth I have to say.” How to Freeze Leftover Pie To freeze Costco’s triple chocolate cream pie, we would follow the directions from this banana cream pie recipe. Its instructions are for freezing an entire pie, but you can use them for slices or quarters of the pie. Wrap the pie portions in plastic wrap. Then wrap them again in aluminum foil. Freeze for up to two months. When you want to dive back into the pie, thaw the portion in the refrigerator. The consistency may be a bit different than when it was fresh, but the rich, delicious flavor should still shine through. Explore more: Food News and Trends Grocery Was this page helpful?
