We hope you haven’t gotten your fill of cookies just yet, because Costco shoppers just spotted a treat that has the power to reignite your cookie cravings

Back after a long, multi-year hiatus, the Costco edible cookie dough tubs are ready to stock your fridge again with chocolate chip cookie dough goodness. And the best part? You can eat it two ways.

“We have hit peak Costco,” raved one Reddit user

Edible Cookie Dough Is Back at Costco

I think we can all agree there’s something so satisfying about eating cookie dough raw, not only because it’s melt-in-your-mouth soft and uniquely decadent, but also because it feels a bit mischievous. For years, we’ve been warned about the dangers of eating unbaked cookie dough, and yet, to our parents’ dismay, probably indulged in it anyway.

Well now, Costco is giving us full permission—plus, making it easier than ever.

This three-pound tub of cookie dough is both vegan and dairy-free, so it eliminates any Salmonella risks associated with eating raw eggs. Plus, the flour has been heat-treated (which is one of the biggest dangers involved in raw dough consumption). With that peace of mind, you can grab your spoon and scoop the deliciousness right out of the tub, just as if you were digging into a pint of ice cream

“There’s just no way I could possibly keep that in my house,” said one Reddit user. “Just get me a spoon and I’m never leaving.”

While you can eat this treat in either dough or baked cookie form, some reviewers have mentioned that the cookie dough isn’t as good when baked, and we’re not entirely surprised. Making cookie dough that’s safe to eat raw can require adjusting or replacing some of the key ingredients for a classic cookie, so you might not get the same chewy, tender results you’d expect from a regular dough

For example, this vegan Eat Pastry dough uses oil as the fat replacement for butter. And, as most bakers know, oil spreads more in the oven, creating thinner, crisper cookies than a rich, butter-based recipe would.

However, some shoppers don’t mind the egg and dairy replacements at all. “Possibly the only vegan alternative that I think tastes nearly identical to the real thing,” said one Reddit user.

The edible chocolate chip cookie dough was spotted at the Costco in Louisville, KY for just $8.99, but members have reported seeing it in other locations as well (by the way: It comes in a yellow container this time—not red). So keep an eye out for this exciting Costco find, and you can start your new year with not one, but two types of sweet snacking.
