No trip to Costco is complete without a stroll through the bakery section. It’s your chance to stock up on bagels for breakfast, a box of cookies for the get-together coming up over the weekend, and most importantly, whatever newfound baked goodies you stumble across.

Well, this shopping trip, your sweet treat won’t be a new item, but instead, a returning favorite—one that had disappeared for so long, you might’ve believed it to be gone for good.

Cherry Danishes Are Back at Costco

The beloved Cherry Danishes have made a grand return to the Costco bakery, in all their sweet and flakey glory.

“I was happy to find cherry danish at my local Costco today,” a Reddit user posted. “Haven't seen it in ages.”

The iconic pastries are filled with a rich, tart cherry jam and studded with whole cherries for a surprisingly natural flavor. The sweet glaze drizzled on top complements the tartness of the berries to create an overall well-balanced treat.

Best of all, they’re Costco-sized pastries, which means most of us can barely tackle one on our own, let alone attempt a second.

“I LOVE THEM,” raved one TikTok user

The Costco bakery hadn’t stopped production of danishes completely, they had just been selling the fruit pastries with an apple filling instead. According to customers on Reddit, the apple version wasn’t exactly filling the void: “The apple filling is horrible and I miss my cherry Danish,” posted one user.

The cream cheese and almond danishes are the other regular offerings, but they also don’t have the same fan-following.

The two-box deal does leave you with a lot of pastries (eight, in total), but according to Reddit users, the danishes freeze “exceptionally well” with no change to the flavor. Bonus: If they ever disappear again, you’ll have a perfectly tasty supply available.

Another hot tip? Some customers swear they’re only at their peak when heated, so throw them in the air fryer before eating for a fresh-from-the-bakery taste.

Depending on where you shop, the Cherry Danish might be limited in availability or supply, but you can always ask a Costco sales associate for more store-specific details.

Few bakery discoveries will be as delightful as the return of your favorite Costco Danish, but with fall just around the corner, we bet you’ll soon be spotting some fall-favorite goodies in the bakery aisle, too. Looking at you, pumpkin cheesecake
