And it’s super easy, too!

My family takes football very seriously—perhaps a little too seriously. Growing up, we were a house divided. My Nana, the head of the household, is from Odessa, Texas, meaning she was a Dallas Cowboys fan through and through. Of course, this meant everybody, by association, had to be a Cowboys fan. But since we put down roots in Colorado, there were some people who fell out of line and became Denver Broncos fans.

With all that tension in the house during game days, the only thing we could all agree on was the food—and luckily, my Auntie Feli (a resident Cowboys fan) created her famous layer dip to bridge the gap between rivals. Our family begs for this dish at every get-together, and it's so finger-licking good that it never lasts longer than 10 minutes on the table.

My Auntie Feli's 5-Layer Bean Dip

This recipe initially had seven layers but has since been pared down to five easier layers of deliciousness. The joy of this recipe is that you can add more or less of whichever ingredient you want—it's endlessly adaptable. My aunt always piles on chunky store-bought guacamole, but feel free to make yours from scratch if that's more your style.

Although simple in composition, this dip delivers so much flavor and texture. Its no-cook factor makes it perfect for chaotic game days when you can't be bothered to cook up a whole platter of finger foods, and it will hopefully bring your family together just as much as it does mine.

How to Make My Auntie Feli's 5-Layer Bean Dip

Ingredients:

  • 3 (9-ounce) cans of Frito Lays Original Bean Dip
  • 1 (8-ounce) pack Wholly Guacamole
  • 3 to 4 cups mild shredded cheese
  • 1 (16-ounce) container sour cream
  • 3 to 4 (2 1/4-ounce) cans of diced black olives

Instructions:

  1. Evenly spread the Frito Lays Original Bean Dip across the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Evenly spread the guacamole over the bean dip layer.
  3. Sprinkle cheese over everything.
  4. Evenly spread the sour cream over the cheese layer.
  5. Top with diced black olives.
