Windsor Station was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1975, and was also designated a Heritage Railway Station in 1990, and a provincial historic monument in 2009.
The walls are gray limestone from a quarry in Montreal. Outside, the columns reach up to 7 feet (2.1m) wide.
History
In 1887, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) began to build a railway station in Montreal, which would serve as its headquarters, three years after the completion of the Dalhousie Station in 1884. The Windsor Station project was entrusted to New York architect Bruce Price, who would choose a Romanesque Revival style for the building. Price had to submit four versions of his plans to satisfy the treasurer of CPR, before the project was accepted. It was constructed at a cost of $300,000 CAD, and the first trains departed February 4, 1889. It was originally known as the Windsor Street Station, named for the street on which it was located, Windsor Street (today Peel Street).
Windsor, also known as Windsor-Mt. Ascutney, is an Amtrak intercity train station in Windsor, Vermont, that is currently served by the Vermonter line. The building's owners, Stacy and Jon Capurso, operate the Windsor Station Restaurant & Barroom within the station.
History
As the first town in Vermont to break ground for the railroad, Windsor briefly leaped to the forefront of mid-19th century commercial development. Around the turn of the century, when Windsor's original 1847 railway station burned, the Burlington contractors Mason & Co. were hired to build "a good type of a modern Railway Station...after the standard design of the Central Vermont Railway Company." Complete with electric lights throughout, a modern hot water heater, birch veneer side seating, and separate waiting rooms for men and women, the new station was to cost about $10,000 and be completed by January 1, 1901.
Like many railway stations erected during this period, the Central Vermont's standard design combined function with style. The low hipped roof (a Romanesque feature) extends beyond the wall surface creating a large over-hang to shelter a waiting platform. Decorative brackets and columns support the roof and round arched windows and doors penetrate the four façades, typical of the style. The verge or barge board, a wooden ornamental motif along the eaves, was borrowed from the Gothic Revival style, a contemporary of the Romanesque. Many of the original materials used to build the station remain intact, such as the yellow pine interior sheathing, buff pressed brick, and window and door sills of Barre granite. The sounds and vibrations of the train rushing down the tracks completes this preserved early 20th century environment.
The station is served by Connecticut Transit bus routes 32, 34, and 36, which provides service to downtown Hartford.
History
Windsor Station was originally built in 1870 as the Hartford & New Haven Railroad Depot and rebuilt to its original Victorian architecture by Town of Windsor, Amtrak and the Greater Hartford Transit District in 1988, the same year it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A former freight house is located nearby, which now serves as the home of the Windsor Arts Center.
In 1206 Montréal was the site of debates between Catholics and Cathars, a sect of Christianity whose beliefs ran contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church of the time. These debates were initiated by Diego of Osma and his canon, the future Saint Dominic, as part of Pope Innocent III's program to convert the Cathars in the area to Catholocism.

... airport also stalled, while more than 30 Via Rail arrivals and departures at UnionStation were late — 11 by more than two hours, including busy routes to or from Montreal, Ottawa and Windsor, Ont.
It is notable that Calgary, Ottawa, Windsor, Montreal and Edmonton are the five station locations with the greatest rate of increased urbanisation since the 1970s as measured by Landsat, and therefore the highest rate of spurious warming.
