Named after the district in south Belfast in which it is located, Windsor Park was first opened in 1905, with a match between Linfield and Glentoran. Most of the current stadium was designed and built in the 1930s, to a design made by the Scottish architect Archibald Leitch. It had one main seated stand - the Grandstand, now known as the South Stand - with "reserved" terracing in front, and a large open terrace behind the goal to the west called the Spion Kop. To the north, there was a long covered terrace - the "unreserved" terracing - and behind the eastern goal at the Railway End another covered terrace. Windsor Park's peak capacity in this format was 60,000. In the early 1960s, the seated Railway Stand was built at the Railway End, and in the early 1970s a social club and viewing lounge was constructed in the corner between the Railway Stand and the Grandstand. In the 1980s, the 'unreserved terrace' was demolished and replaced by a two-tier, 7000-seat North Stand. In the late 1990s, the Kop terrace was demolished and replaced with the 5000-seater Kop Stand. The Kop Stand was known as the Alex Russell Stand from 2004-2008 in honour of Linfield's former goalkeeper and coach and one-time Northern Ireland international, but reverted to being named 'The Kop Stand' following this.
75th Street-Windsor Park is a station on the South Chicago Branch of the Metra Electric District Line. It is located at 75th Street in the median of Exchange Avenue and is 10.88 miles (17.51km) away from the northern terminus at Randolph Street Station. Parking is available along northbound Exchange Avenue between 75th Place and 75th Street and along both sides of Saginaw Avenue, south of southbound Exchange Avenue. The station was recently renovated in 2008.
The stadium is of International Cricket Council (ICC) international standard with facilities featuring 12,000 seats, private boxes, a media centre, practice nets, a players' complex, digital score boards and five cricket pitches.
History
The ground was named after Windsor, England and is situated on the eastern side of Roseau. It was levelled out of a rubbish dump previously known as Cow Town. It was a popular venue for sports of all kinds, carnival activities, horse and donkey racing, State parades and played a central role in island life. In 1999 a national stadium was planned for the site, but after demolishing all of the existing stands and adjoining buildings, including a former school that had once been wards of the Roseau Hospital, the project was abandoned and the site was deserted until 2005.
Windsor Park Mall was a shopping mall located on the northeast side of San Antonio, Texas, off Interstate 35 and Walzem Road. It opened in 1976 and closed in 2005.
In 2007, the building, of which ownership was transferred to the suburb of Windcrest, Texas, became the new corporate headquarters of Rackspace, a Web hosting company. Their redevelopment of the mall structure, now known as "The Castle", has sparked a redevelopment of the surrounding area.
History
1976-2007: Windsor Park Mall
Melvin Simon and Associates announced their development plans for the mall in 1974, and the center opened on July 29, 1976. The original anchors were Montgomery Ward, JCPenney, Joske's and Dillard's. A 1985 expansion added Mervyns to the mall. In 1987, Joske's merged with Dillard's, and the former Joske's was converted into a Dillard's home store on the lower level, while the upper level was transformed into a food court, which cost $8 million ($16.7million in 2016 dollars). Simon opened Rolling Oaks Mall (also in northeast San Antonio) in 1989, and in conjunction with the new mall, Simon renovated Windsor Park between 1987 and November 1990. The second phase of renovations gave the mall a Southwestern theme, adding skylights and an octagon-shaped stage, as well as marble floors and new fountains. At this time, Windsor Park had 135 tenants and an occupancy rate of 97%.
Park Place was originally dedicated as Park Mall in May 1975, but was renovated beginning in 1998 and renamed Park Place the following year. The mall is named after Sears Park, which was previously located at the same site and included the Sears store, the current mall’s major anchor (the park’s presently limited to its extreme southern part). The electric substation on the premises is named Sears Substation because it was there a decade before the mall was built. From 1970 to 1996 the owner was the mall’s original developer, Joseph Kivel.
Renovation
The 1,100,000-square-foot (100,000m2), $100 million renovation, completed in 2001, was recognized that year as a Reader's Pick for Best Contemporary Architecture in Tucson Weekly's Best of Tucson awards.
The mall features three anchor stores, a food court, a Southwest-themed children's play area, and a cineplex with 20 screens. A number of full-service restaurants are also located on site.
Windsor Park is a south central neighbourhood in the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is located immediately to the west of the University of Alberta north campus and overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley to the north, west, and south west. It shares a short boundary with the neighbourhood of Belgravia to the south.
One of the benefits to residents comes from the neighbourhood's central location with easy access to other parts of the city provided by roads and by LRT stations located on the University of Alberta campus.
The main artery south from the university area, 114 Street, gives access to Southgate Centre and Whitemud Drive. Whitemud Drive gives residents another way to reach the north side, with this one providing good access to West Edmonton Mall.
