Washington County is a county in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,198. The county seat and largest city is Weiser, with over half of the county's population. The county was established in 1879 when Idaho was a territory and named after U.S. president George Washington.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,474 square miles (3,820km2), of which 1,453 square miles (3,760km2) is land and 21 square miles (54km2) (1.4%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 9,977 people, 3,762 households, and 2,738 families residing in the county. The population density was 7 people per square mile (3/km²). There were 4,138 housing units at an average density of 3 per squaremile (1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 87.61% White, 1.03% Asian, 0.66% Native American, 0.10% Black or African American, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 8.17% from other races, and 2.36% from two or more races. 13.75% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 15.7% were of German, 14.3% English, 10.1% American and 7.7% Irish ancestry according to Census 2000.
Washington County is the name of 30 counties and one parish in the United States of America, each named for George Washington, revolutionary war general and first President of the United States. In total, the following 32 states and one district have or had a Washington County:
Washington County is one of 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2010 census, the population was 529,710, making it the second most populous county in the state. The county seat and largest city is Hillsboro.
Cities in Washington County include Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, and Forest Grove, the oldest city in the county.
Originally named Twality when created in 1843, the territorial legislaturerenamed it for the first president of the United States, George Washington, in 1849. The original boundaries included the entire northwest corner of Oregon before sections became new counties. The Tualatin River and its drainage basin are almost entirely within the county, with the county nearly coterminous with the Tualatin Valley. It is bordered on the west and north by the Northern Oregon Coast Range, on the south by the Chehalem Mountains, and on the north and east by the Tualatin Mountains (or West Hills).
When counties were established in New York State in 1683, the present Washington County was part of Albany County. This was an enormous county, including the northern part of New York State as well as all of the present state of Vermont and, in theory, extending westward to the Pacific Ocean. This county was reduced in size on July 3, 1766 by the creation of Cumberland County, and further on March 16, 1770 by the creation of Gloucester County, both containing territory now in Vermont.
On March 12, 1772, what was left of Albany County was split into three parts, one remaining under the name Albany County. The other two were called Tryon County (later renamed Montgomery County) and Charlotte County.
Fires is the second album by London-born singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot. First released in April 2005 on her own independent record label, Idaho Records, Fires was met with much critical acclaim but did not gain commercial recognition.
After working as a support act for artists such as Sheryl Crow and Suzanne Vega, Pallot was signed up to 14th Floor Records, who were impressed with the audience response and after-show sales of her album. Thus, Fires was reissued in late April 2006 with revamped artwork and some slight remixes on some of Pallot's songs. The album entered at UK #41 and later, on the strength of the popular single "Everybody's Gone to War", made it as far as #21.
To date, the album has been certified gold in the UK for sales of over 100,000, and has earned Pallot a nomination at the 2007 BRIT Awards for Best British Female. As of 4 October 2009, the album has sold 138,563 copies in the UK.

Idaho is paying hunters who kill wolves, but in Washington they're protected. Here's why
For some conservationists, the fight is on to put gray wolves back on the federal endangered species list after President Donald Trump lifted protections for the animals before he left office in 2020. President Joe Biden has faced increasing pressure to reverse the Trump administration's decision, though he is sticking by it for now. Wolves are still endangered in Washington but not in neighboring Idaho, and many cattle ranchers say it's putting them at a distinct disadvantage.

There are 520.88 tillable acres per the Washington County Farm Service Agency. The tillable acres are currently under a lease through 2023 to a local farmer who pays annual cash rent. The farm has historically been farmed under an annual crop rotation, using typical farming practices for the area. The primary crops grown on this farm have included alfalfa, corn, and wheat with an occasional vegetable crop such as potatoes. The tenant is responsible for all farming costs, including utilities and pumping costs; the landowner pays all property taxes.
Water rights are served via surface water from the Buttermilk Slough and Lower Payette Ditch Company. Irrigation water is pumped via a farm-owned pumping station to a mainline, which then distributes the water to the individual pivot systems and wheel lines that cover the corners of the farm.
Structures, included in the sale, consist of a 3,800 +/- square foot Quonset shop and 4 grain bins. The grain bins are currently used for miscellaneous storage by the tenant. Per the Washington County Planning & Zoning
Department, the property is in an ‘A1 Agricultural Zone.’ Parcels must be 1 acre or 20 acres or greater, anything between 1-19 acres are non-confirming lot sizes.

For the past couple years, the Greater Idaho Movement has gained a lot of momentum. Its goal is to convince both the Oregon and Idaho state legislatures, and then the United States Congress, to redraw the boundary between Oregon and Idaho. The goal is to take at least 15 mostly rural, conservative-leaning counties in Eastern Oregon and have them become part of Idaho.

More than 50% of voters in eastern Oregon's Morrow and Wheeler counties said "yes" to the resolution that would move them into Idaho in Tuesday's election.
Rachel Maddow reports on a new legal invention by anti-abortion Republicans in Idaho as people both seeking and providing reproductive care are fleeing the dangerous oppression of Idaho laws for the safety and freedom across the border in Washington.

In a state dominated by progressive politics, some residents in rural Oregon east of the Cascade Mountains want to move the border so that their counties become part of Idaho, a more conservative state that more closely aligns with their values. Correspondent Lee Cowan talks with advocates of the Greater Idaho movement about why they believe this idea may not be so far-fetched.
