Bus rapid transit (BRT, BRTS, busway) is a bus-based mass transit system. A true BRT system generally has specialized design, services and infrastructure to improve system quality and remove the typical causes of delay. Sometimes described as a "surface subway", BRT aims to combine the capacity and speed of light rail or metro with the flexibility, lower cost and simplicity of a bus system.
To be considered BRT, buses should operate for a significant part of their journey within a fully dedicated right of way (busway) to avoid traffic congestion. In addition, a true BRT system has most of the following elements:
Alignment in the center of the road (to avoid typical curb-side delays)
Stations with off-board fare collection (to reduce boarding and alighting delay related to paying the driver)
Station platforms level with the bus floor (to reduce boarding and alighting delay caused by steps)
Bus priority at intersections (to avoid intersection signal delay)
The first BRT system was the Rede Integrada de Transporte ('Integrated Transportation Network') in Curitiba, Brazil, which entered service in 1974. This inspired many similar systems around Brazil and the world, such as TransMilenio in Bogotá, Colombia, which opened in 2000. As of October 2014, 186 cities in all continents have implemented BRT systems, accounting for 4,757km (2,956mi) of BRT lanes. It is estimated that about 31.7 million passengers use BRT worldwide everyday, of which about 19.7 million passengers ride daily in Latin America, which has the most cities with BRT systems, with 60, led by Brazil with 33 cities.
The Transitway was one of the most extensive and successful implementations of bus rapid transit, having begun service in 1983; many of the Transitway roads are above or below the grade of normal streets in Ottawa, by the use of overpasses, bridges, and trench highways. Thus, they rarely intersect directly with the regular traffic, and make it possible for the buses (and emergency vehicles) to continue at full speed even during rush hour. Buses that travel on the Transitway can cross very long distances (especially outside the downtown area) without stopping for a single traffic light. Most sections of the Transitway have a speed limit of 70–90km/h (43–56mph) between stations, and 50km/h (31mph) in the station areas.
The Government of Ontario does not intend on opening the first segment, between Highway 400 to Kennedy Road, until 2023. The project is listed in the regional transportation plan The Big Move within the 25-year timeframe.
The Maricopa Association of Governments is conducting a Regional Bus Rapid Transit Feasibility Study to explore the interest in and feasibility of implementing BRT in our region. Working in partnership with member agencies, the study will also recommend a preliminary set of locations where a regional BRT network could connect to planned City of Phoenix BRT investments.

Wake Bus Rapid Transit: New Bern Avenue Corridor – Raleigh, North Carolina
The Wake Bus Rapid Transit (BRT): New Bern Avenue project completed 30 percent of the design phase in March 2020. With the completion of this phase, an informational video was developed to address frequently asked questions and visualize information presented at previous design open house meetings. The video provides an introduction and background into the overall Wake BRT Program and highlights the use of dedicated bus lanes along New Bern Avenue Corridor. It also provides information regarding planned bicycle/pedestrian improvements and includes an introduction to BRT station features and amenities. As the project advances in the next phase of design there will be various engagement opportunities for the public to interact and provide feedback to the design team on branding, wayfinding a...

Less than a year later, ridership had doubled in the corridor, and the city of Eugene was nominated for the 2008 Sustainable Transportation Award, and received an honorable mention. An extension was opened on January 9, 2011, connecting EmX to the Gateway Mall as well as Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend and International Way. A second extension to West Eugene opened on September 17, 2017, adding 9 miles (14 km) to the system. ~Wikipedia

In my defense the sky isn't getting any clearer and day-by-day I'm finding place in myself that were best left under lock and key. and sometimes it seems there's happiness for everyone but me. so how do you take this when someone says to your face "why can't you believe that anyone cares about you" I care about you If I could stack my doubts or spend the time to sort them out I would be climbing till I couldn't breathe and the pressure always gets to me. The more I look around I see that even though it seems, There's happiness for everyone but me. Everyone but me. We're all just kids, scared and flawed clinging to the legs of all the good inside we've lost or thought there was but never was at all so carry on, because someday we'll leave this place behind. and you will let me go, just like a balloon. I hope you watch me float away into the atmosphere I'll be waiving till I'm out of site I know I couldn't make things right But I know that you're drifting towards a better life, with better times.
