Thomas Stent (1882 – 1912) was an architect in New York City. He assisted Alexander Saeltzer on the Astor Public Library and was the architect for the 1879–1881 expansion.
He designed "Belvoir" in Delaware Township, Middlesex County, Ontario. The house at Belvoir (pronounced "Beever") was owned by Helen Gibson Weld's grandfather, Richard Gibson, 1840-1911.
At Parliament Hill, the team of Thomas Stent and Augustus Laver, under the pseudonym of Stat nomen in umbra, won the prize for the second category, which included the East and West Blocks. These proposals were selected for their sophisticated use of Gothic architecture, which was thought to remind people of parliamentary democracy's history, would contradict the republicanNeoclassicism of the United States' capital, and would be suited to the rugged surroundings while also being stately. $300,000 was allocated for the main building, and $120,000 for each of the departmental buildings.
In medicine, a stent is a tube or other device placed in the body to create a passage between two hollow spaces, and stenting is the placement of a stent. There is a wide variety of stents used for different purposes, from expandable coronary, vascular and biliary stents, to simple plastic stents used to allow the flow of urine between kidney and bladder. Stent is also used as a verb to describe the placement of such a device, particularly when a disease such as atherosclerosis has pathologically narrowed a structure such as an artery.
Stent types
Overuse
In 2007 the New England Journal of Medicine published the results of a trial called COURAGE. The trial gave recommendations about the practice of stenting in PCI, a heart intervention. This study was recognized as strong evidence for the need for a field-wide change in practice.
Medical societies recommend that surgeons not perform stenting in the usual surgery of otherwise healthy individuals during percutaneous coronary intervention. A report by the Chicago Tribune also noted that the use of cardiac coronary artery stents was too high in cases where the patient was in at least stable condition and the coronary artery stent(s) was implanted on an elective basis—many times more than one is implanted in the same procedure, even in the same vessel. However, the report was careful to note that they are indisputably still a viable therapy that often produces satisfactory results for those with acute coronary artery disease, such as relief of an arterial occlusion that has caused a heart attack (myocardial infarction), or where there is a danger of a piece of the blockage detaching and traveling (a thrombosis) to occlude a vessel in the cardiopulmonary system or the brain.
Star Trek: Enterprise (titled simply Enterprise for the first two seasons; sometimes abbreviated to ST: ENT) is an American science fiction TV series and a prequel to the original Star Trek series. The series premiered on September 26, 2001, on the UPN television network and the final episode aired on May 13, 2005.
The show is set in regions of the Milky Way galaxy near Earth, aboard the Enterprise NX-01, Earth's first starship designed for long-range exploration of the galaxy and the first to be Warp 5-capable. The series begins in 2151 (115 years before the original series) when Jonathan Archer becomes the captain of the Enterprise, and ends in 2161 with the formation of the United Federation of Planets.
Production
In May 2000, Rick Berman, executive producer of Star Trek: Voyager, revealed that a new series would premiere following the final season of Voyager. Little news was forthcoming for months as Berman and Brannon Braga developed the untitled series, known only as "Series V", until February 2001, when Paramount signed Herman Zimmerman and John Eaves to production design Series V. Within a month, scenic designer Michael Okuda, another long-time Trek veteran, was also signed.Michael Westmore, make-up designer for Trek since Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), was announced as working on Series V by the end of April. Returning as director of photography would be Marvin V. Rush, who had been working on various Treks since the third season of TNG. For visual effects, Ronald B. Moore, who had previously worked on TNG and Voyager, was brought in.

The company was founded by Samuel Bath Thomas (1855–1919). In 1874, he emigrated from England to New York City and began working in a bakery. By 1880, he had purchased his own bakery at 163 Ninth Avenue, where he featured his namesake muffins. Thomas expanded to 337 West 20th Street where today a plaque designates the building as "The Muffin House."
The company, S.B. Thomas, Inc., was incorporated by his family after his death in 1919.
Trade Secrets Case
In 2010, the company won a trade secret suit when an executive downloaded the company's recipes and retired to work for Hostess.
Saint Thomas the Apostle (called Didymus which means "the twin") was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, according to the New Testament. He is informally called doubting Thomas because he doubted Jesus' resurrection when first told, (in the Gospel of John), followed later by his confession of faith, "My Lord and my God", on seeing Jesus' wounded body.
Traditionally, he is said to have travelled outside the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel, travelling as far as Tamilakam in present-day India. According to tradition, the Apostle reached Muziris, Tamilakam present day India in AD 52 and baptized several people, founding what today are known as Saint Thomas Christians or Nasranis. After his death, the reputed relics of Saint Thomas the Apostle were enshrined as far as Mesopotamia in the 3rd century, and later moved to various places. In 1258, some of the relics were brought to Abruzzo in Ortona, Italy, where they have been held in the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle. He is often regarded as the Patron Saint of India, and the name Thoma remains quite popular among Saint Thomas Christians of India.

Coronary Stents - The Nebraska Medical Center
Coronary stents have saved and improved the lives of millions of people. Nebraska Medical Center cardiologist Dr. Haysam Akkad explains how a stent is place inside a blocked artery and what a patient is likely to feel after the procedure is finished. Doctors place the stent by threading a wire through an artery in the leg until the stent is at the point where the artery blocked or narrowed. A tiny balloon inside the stent then inflates. The stent, a tiny wire mesh tube the holds the artery open, allowing increased blood flow.
