How streets, roads, and avenues are different

A street is a road but a road isn't always a street. A road can also be an avenue or a boulevard—it's the general term for anything that connects two points. From there, the names of roads can be shaped by their environment and/or the form of the road. A drive is a long winding road that can be shaped by mountains or a lake. Place is a narrow road with no throughway. And just as there is no rule book to building a city, these roads and other don't always correspond with their described classifications.

Today we take a look at the Top 10 Funniest Road Names in America! We look at some wild names and some the most unusual road names in the US

Surprisingly, Montgomery County in Arkansas was looking for a name to the road and a local resident submitted it as a prank like Far from poopin and no one ever changed it! So to no one's surprise this road was a prank, but nonetheless it's a road and it is our number one spot in today's video.
Dingleberry Road, Iowa- Now I thought this one was really funny and to be honest, I don't really wanna know how they came up with this name. If you want to look it up, by all means go for it, but I warn you, make sure to add “Road’ when you search it.
Katie’s Crotch Road, Maine- This road is located in Maine and thankfully this road is not named from a woman Katie’s crotch. It’s named from a family that lived on the intersection of the unnamed road that made a V shape at the intersection. So the name Katie Crotch Road was born
Bone Lick Road, located near Big Bone Lick State Park in Union, Kentucky. Now the name of thai place and the origin is unknown, but in the early 1700s many large bones were discovered there by a French explorer. That explains the bib bone part, but not sure about the lick part nor do I really want to dive that deep!
Moose Breath Lane, Idaho- This town is located in Island Park, Idaho and this road has got to stink. This is a small road so there is no history to it but its idaho, idaho's got moose, they are big so their breath probably smells, and bam Moose Breath Lane was born.
Go Away Road (Goochland County, VA)- This road is located in Goochland County, Virginia. (which may i say is a unique name in itself). The main theory is that the name is a result of a dispute between neighbors who lived on either side of the road. According to this theory, the neighbors had a falling out and one of them put up a sign that said "Go Away". The sign became a local landmark and the road was eventually named after it.
Wiener Cutoff Road, Arkansas- Tha kfully this road did not get its name from you know what happening. This road actually got its name from a nearby town called wiener. This road was built as a shorter path or a cutoff to go from Harrisburg to Waldenburg. Giving it the name wiener cutoff road, I really wish they thought about it more before naming it
Chicken Dinner Road (Idaho Falls, Idaho)-The Chicken Dinner Road in Idaho is located in Canyon County, near the town of Homedale. It got its name from A local farmer, Joe L. Lewis, who was running for state representative and he promised a free chicken dinner to everyone who attended his campaign rally. The event was a huge success, with over 2,000 people showing up. The road was later named Chicken Dinner Road in honor of the event, and the name stuck
Never Mind Lane (Kent, Ohio)- This street is located in Kent, Ohio near Kent State University. The name comes from a conversation between two Kent State University professors in the late 1960s. According to the story, one of the professors was giving directions to his house to the other, but he couldn't remember the name of the street. Frustrated, he exclaimed "Never mind!" and the other professor suggested that they name the street Never Mind Lane.

Lyrics:
I wanna run, I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside.
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name.
I wanna feel sunlight on my face.
I see the dust-cloud
Disappear without a trace.
I wanna take shelter
From the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.
We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(It's all I can do).
The city's a flood, and our love turns to rust.
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust.
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.
We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(It's all I can do).

Where the Streets Have No Name
(The Joshua Tree, 1987)
Where the Streets Have No Name is a song by U2, from their 1987 album, The Joshua Tree. It peaked at #14 in Canada, #10 in The Netherlands and #4 in the United Kingdom.
The song became a staple of live shows, being played 645 times at 642 shows since its inaugural performance 2 April 1987 in Tempe, Arizona. Its critical reception was mostly warm, praised by music critics such as Rolling Stone magazine. In Rolling Stone issue 1054, the song was ranked 28th in the issues list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.
This song is played during the home introduction of the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL and the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL. It was the theme song for ESPNs coverage of the 2006 World Cup.
Lyrics
I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
I want to feel, sunlight on my face
See that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Were still building
Then burning down love, burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you...
(Its all I can do)
The cities a flood
And our love turns to rust
Were beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled into dust
Ill show you a place
High on the desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
(Its all I can do)
The Joshua Tree is the fifth studio album by U2, released in 1987. The album features the bands exploration of roots rock, with their music exhibiting influences from bluesrock, folk rock, country music, and gospel music. Lyrically, The Joshua Tree depicts the bands fascination with America, but also its discontent with the foreign policy of the United States.
The album increased the bands stature from heroes to superstars, according to Rolling Stone magazine. The album produced several hit singles, including Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You, and I Still Havent Found What Im Looking For, all of which remain radio staples.
The Joshua Tree won Grammy Awards for Best Rock performance by a Duo or group with Vocal and Album of the Year in Grammy Awards of 1988. In 2003, the album was ranked number 26 on Rolling Stone magazines list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album is one of the worlds bestselling albums of alltime, having sold over 25 million copies.

On 21 July 1403, King Henry IV with his son Hal, the future Henry V, went head to head with a Northern traitor – Henry ‘Hotspur’. The Battle of Shrewsbury would pit rebel against royalist. Englishman against Englishman. At stake was the crown of England.

Today, I take another trip through my home town on my Switch powered M6L raw lacquer Brompton. Shrewsbury is a small market town, close to the Welsh border. Not only do we have a multitude of Tudor buildings, but we also have a rabbit warren of shuts, alleyways and passages. You asked for me, so you've got it.

Birthplace of Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury is set amidst the glorious Shropshire countryside near to the Welsh Borders and is one of England’s finest medieval market towns.
Shrewsbury Tourist Attractions
The town has over 600 listed buildings including the Castle and the Abbey (home of the fictional Brother Cadfael).
Relax in beautiful Quarry Park or take a boat trip on the River Severn. You will also find a huge variety of things to see and do in the surrounding countryside.
Shrewsbury Events
Each year a number of major festivals and special events are held, including the world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show.
Spring sees one of the country’s top agricultural shows – the Shropshire County Show.
August bank holiday sees the Shrewsbury Folk Festival, one of the Uk’s top folk events.
Shrewsbury Shopping
The historic centre is a shopper’s heaven packed with designer shops, smart new malls and an amazing range of independent retailers. And of course all the bars, cafes, restaurants and you could ever wish for.
Shrewsbury is the county town of Shropshire, in western England. It sits inside a loop of the River Severn, and its Tudor centre is lined with half-timbered houses. The medieval, red-brick Shrewsbury Castle houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, where military artefacts include uniforms and weaponry. St Chad's Church is defined by its unique circular nave, and St Mary’s Church has elaborate stained-glass windows.
Shrewsbury was founded by the Saxons and developed by the Tudors, which probably explains why it is famed for its castle, spires, abbey and medieval buildings. Walking around the town, it’s hard not to take in the wealth of history in front of your eyes, all set around the River Severn.
So, it’s no surprise that in 1984 the cast and crew of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol transformed Shrewsbury into a snowy Victorian England for the film version of his book.
Shopaholics will love Shrewsbury as there are lots of stores to choose from. And you’ll find many of the traditional high street favourites on offer in indoor shopping malls too. But the town’s retail strength also lies in a wealth of independent shops. For example, Wyle Cop is thought to have the longest uninterrupted row of independent shops in the country.
And there are many. Shrewsbury Prison, for example, is one of the country’s oldest jails. You can take a tour walking in the footsteps of prisoners and viewing one of the last working execution rooms in the country.
The Wroxeter Roman ruins are a major draw for visitors, especially since featuring on Channel 4’s Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day. The site was once the fourth largest city in Roman Britain and visitors can take a tour around the ruins and explore the new Roman Town House.
There are plenty of eateries to choose from including traditional English pubs to Italian, Asian, French and Mexican. From Carluccio’s in the Square to the Armoury, which overlooks the river, there really is something for all tastes.
Shrewsbury Food Festival is held at the Quarry Park and around the town and features plenty of tasty treats
The town’s four-star Prince Rupert Hotel is the former home of King James I’s grandson Prince Rupert and is said to be one of the town’s finest hotels.
If you love soaking up the history of a medieval castle then the town is the perfect place to visit. Shrewsbury Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1067 and since then has under gone several restorations.
Shrewsbury’s national award-winning indoor market offers eclectic shopping and has even been compared to some of the coolest markets in London.
Shrewsbury Farmers’ Market is also held in the town square once a month, usually on the first Friday of the month.
The town centre has a largely unspoilt medieval street plan and over 660 listed buildings, including several examples of timber framing from the 15th and 16th centuries. Shrewsbury Castle, a red sandstone fortification, and Shrewsbury Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery, were founded in 1074 and 1083 respectively by the Norman Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery. Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is where he spent 27 years of his life.

🚩In 1403, a rebellion broke out in England that would culminate in one of the bloodiest battles to ever take place on English soil. On 21 July 1403, King Henry IV with his son Hal, the future Henry V, went head to head with a Northern traitor – Henry ‘Hotspur’. The Battle of Shrewsbury would pit rebel against royalist. Englishman against Englishman. At stake was the crown of England.
The lessons learned in this battle by the young Henry V would go on to prove crucial at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, one of England’s most important triumphs in the Hundred Years’ War.

SHREWSBURY Shropshire ENGLAND Walk Tour 4K Birthplace of Charles Darwin
Shrewsbury is a market town, civil parish, and the county town of Shropshire, England, on the River Severn, 150 miles north-west of London. At the 2021 census, it had a population of 76,782.
The town is the birthplace of Charles Darwin. It has had an important historic role in nurturing aspects of UK culture, including being the nursery of English drama, ballet/dance and pantomime.
The town centre has a largely unspoilt medieval street plan and over 660 listed buildings, including several examples of timber framing from the 15th and 16th centuries. Shrewsbury Castle, a red sandstone fortification, and Shrewsbury Abbey, founded in 1074 and 1083 respectively by the Norman Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery.
Located 9 miles (14 km) east of the Welsh border, Shrewsbury serves as the commercial centre for Shropshire and mid-Wales, with a retail output of over £299 million per year and light industry and distribution centres, such as Battlefield Enterprise Park, on the outskirts. The A5 and A49 trunk roads come together as the town's by-pass and five railway lines meet at Shrewsbury railway station.
