Ten Minute History - The Spanish Civil War and Francisco Franco (Short Documentary)
Twitter: https://twitter.com/Tenminhistory

This episode of Ten Minute History (like a documentary, only shorter) covers Spain in the 1930s before the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, through the civil war itself and to the end of Francisco Franco's dictatorship. It covers why the Nationalists won, what conditions led to the civil war and how Franco governed Spain. The end of the episode is focused on the (incredibly impressive) efforts of King Juan Carlos I of Spain to bring democracy back to Spain.

The Spanish Civil War – in 7 minutes!
In many ways, the Spanish Civil War was a prelude to World War II. The country was on a crossroads towards either communism or fascism. When a leftist government was elected to office, some high-ranking military officers conspired to overthrow the government.
This is how the Spanish Civil War started, unfolded, and ended, with hindsight.

The Complete History of The Spanish Civil War
The Spanish Civil War is one of the most famous events of the 20th century yet it is also by far one of the most misunderstood. Most people know next to nothing about it and the little they do know is just propaganda bites from the time from the losing side whom had greater access to the world media. In this video I will be giving the complete story of the Spanish Civil War from its early origins all the way until its end so that the full picture can actually be grasped. Was it fascism against the democratically elected government or was it something else entirely? The truth is that the war and even the sides that took part are extremely complicated and only able to be explained at length. World War 2 is simple and easy to understand, the Spanish Civil War is not. I will attempt to change ...

The Spanish Civil War began in 1936, waged between the Spanish Republicans and the Spanish Nationalists. It started when General Francisco Franco, as well as General Emilo Mola and Jose Sanjurjo, led a military coup against the unstable Second Spanish Republic. They were joined by large parts of the Spanish military, Catholic Church, and new radical factions like the Spanish Falangists. The Republic, meanwhile, was defended by...

Ten Minute History is a series of short, ten minute animated narrative documentaries that are designed as revision refreshers or simple introductions to a topic. Please note that these are not meant to be comprehensive and there's a lot of stuff I couldn't fit into the episodes that I would have liked to. Thank you for watching, though, it's always appreciated.

I will attempt to change that.

The Spanish Civil War began in 1936, waged between the Spanish Republicans and the Spanish Nationalists. The roots of this war go back decades. It was part of a broader reckoning in early 20th century Europe between various competing ideologies - republicanism, monarchism, communism, fascism, anarchism, and more. In Spain's case, Catholicism and anti-clericalism also played a major role. Leaders such as Francisco Franco, Manuel Azana, Gil Robles, and more arose to lead their respective factions in a battle for supremacy.

The Republic, meanwhile, was defended by liberals, communists, and anarchists. This video details the factions and how the war played out. It also investigates what critical factors help win a civil war.
