Sue Raney (born June 18, 1940 in McPherson, Kansas) is an American jazz singer. Signed by Capitol Records at the age of 17, her debut album, the Nelson Riddle-produced When Your Lover Has Gone, was released in 1958.
Biography
Raney begin singing at only four years of age, and encouraged by her mother, began working as a professional before she was a teenager. When she was nearly 14, she joined Jack Carson's Los Angeles-based radio show in 1954, and later worked on television as Ray Anthony's band's main vocalist. Her single Biology was the first Capitol single to be elevated to national promotion after Capitol introduced regional pre-testing in 1960.
After a hiatus in the 1970s, Raney has continued to record sporadically, with one of her most recent albums being a 2006 tribute to Doris Day entitled Heart's Desire.
Her Imperial single "Early Morning Blues And Greens" was well-played on easy-listening stations, peaking at No. 16 on Billboard's MOR chart.
Cobblestone Runway is the 6th studio album from Canadiansinger-songwriterRon Sexsmith. The album also features a second version of the song "Gold in Them Hills" as a bonus, featuring a duet vocal with Coldplay's Chris Martin. Some printings of the album came with a second disc, a re-release of "Grand Opera Lane."
In 2011, Katie Melua released a single with a version of "Gold in Them Hills". It also opens her album Secret Symphony.
"Heart's Desire" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Lee Roy Parnell. It was released as the third single from his album We All Get Lucky Sometimes on Career Records. The song spent 20 weeks on the Hot Country Songs charts, peaking at number three in 1996. It was his last Top Ten hit on that chart. It was written Parnell and Cris Moore.
Chart performance
"Heart's Desire" debuted at number 64 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks for the week of January 20, 1996.
Doris Day (born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff; April 3, 1922 or 1924) is an American actress, singer, and animal rights activist.
Day began her career as a big band singer in 1939, and is well known for her string of romantic comedies with leading man Rock Hudson including 'Pillow Talk' and 'Lover Come Back' in the early 1960s. Her popularity began to rise after her first hit recording "Sentimental Journey", in 1945. After leaving Les Brown & His Band of Renown to embark on a solo career, Day started her long-lasting partnership with Columbia Records, which remained her only recording label. The contract lasted from 1947 to 1967 and included more than 650 recordings, making Day one of the most popular and acclaimed singers of the 20th century. In 1948, after being persuaded by songwriters Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne and by Al Levy, her agent at the time, she auditioned for film director Michael Curtiz, which led to her being cast as the female lead in Romance on the High Seas.
Over the course of her career, Day appeared in 39 films. She was ranked the biggest box-office star, the only woman appearing on that list in the era, for four years (1960, 1962, 1963 and 1964), ranking in the top 10 for ten years (1951–52, and 1959–66). She became the top-ranking female box-office star of all time and is currently ranked sixth among the top 10 box office performers (male and female), as of 2012. Day received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Pillow Talk, won three Henrietta Awards (World Film Favorite), and received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. In 1989, she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. She made her last film in 1968.
"Doris Day" is a song from 1982 by Dutch band Doe Maar. It was the title-track off their third album Doris Day en Andere Stukken and became their first top 10-hit.
Bass-player Henny Vrienten, lead-vocalist alongside pianist Ernst Jansz, wrote "Doris Day" as a complaint about TV-boredom (which includes the screening of a Doris Day-movie) best tackled by pressing the off-button and going out. The original lyrics also mentioned movie-expert Simon van Collem, but this was altered to "ein Wiener Operette" when he appeared to be the father of the band's new drummer Rene (1961).
"Doris Day" catapulted the otherwise thirtysomething Doe Maar into superstardom, but overexposure and creative exhaustion would split them up two years later. Vrienten, who went on to write TV- and movie-soundtracks, told Music Maker-magazine in 1985: "You can flush 'Doris Day' down the toilet anytime you like; it's the worst song I ever wrote. Rhyming for rhyming's sake, and stuff. And the worst thing of all is that it drew full crowd-participation every night".

LYRICS:
I'm in Dreamsville - Holding you
A dreamy view - Just we two alone
With love in Dreamsville - Time is new
We're here to love - And we do
We can see the rest of the world, Below us
From our pink cloud
There's no boundary to this magic land
As we go exploring - Hand in hand
To dreamy Dreamsville - Far away
I'ts here we'll love - Here we'll stay
Dreamy Dreamsville - Far away
I'ts here we'll love - Here we'll stay

Stand at the window, pull back the lace I feel the night wind on my face All that I long for, all that I crave Am I the master? Am I slave? The night's so still I feel the lovers out in the hills The breathing of young girls lying in bed Visions of love in their heads Desire walks on Desire walks on A beautiful boy gazed in a pool His eyes looking back like jewels The call of the mirror too strong to resist The call of the water, the call of a kiss Desire walks on Desire walks on Desire walks on Wants to be held possessed, wants consummation It moves on obsessed Bloodstream through pipes singing in the wires Heat, motion, control desire walks on Ooh yeah, hey, hey, hey, hey You got me yearning, yearning, yearning, yearning Oh yeah Stand at the window the world is so still Calling you back by force of will Where did you go? I don't know why Too much longing inside You wrapped me in nighttime sexual disguise I was the love in your eyes Now you took me over, my innocence cracked You own my passion, I want you, I want you back Desire walks on Desire walks on Desire walks on and on, and on
