Sue Raney (born June 18, 1940 in McPherson, Kansas) is an American jazz singer. Signed by Capitol Records at the age of 17, her debut album, the Nelson Riddle-produced When Your Lover Has Gone, was released in 1958.
Biography
Raney begin singing at only four years of age, and encouraged by her mother, began working as a professional before she was a teenager. When she was nearly 14, she joined Jack Carson's Los Angeles-based radio show in 1954, and later worked on television as Ray Anthony's band's main vocalist. Her single Biology was the first Capitol single to be elevated to national promotion after Capitol introduced regional pre-testing in 1960.
After a hiatus in the 1970s, Raney has continued to record sporadically, with one of her most recent albums being a 2006 tribute to Doris Day entitled Heart's Desire.
Her Imperial single "Early Morning Blues And Greens" was well-played on easy-listening stations, peaking at No. 16 on Billboard's MOR chart.
"Now Is the Hour" is a popular song, though often erroneously described as a traditional Māori song. It is usually credited to Clement Scott (music) and Maewa Kaihau & Dorothy Stewart (arrangement and lyrics).
Maori lyrics:
Pö atarau e moea iho nei
E haere ana koe ki pämamao
Haere rä ka hoki mai anö
Ki i te tau e tangi atu nei
English lyrics:
Now is the hour for me say goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away oh please remember me
When you return you'll find me waiting here
The tune of the song first became known in 1913 when it was published by W.H. Paling and Co as a piano-variations piece in Australia, called Swiss Cradle Song and credited to "Clement Scott". Some sources say that, after a tour of New Zealand, the British music critic and travel writer Clement Scott wrote the tune to the "Swiss Cradle Song". However, the family of an Australian, Albert Saunders, has long claimed that the "Clement Scott" who wrote the tune is a pseudonym for Saunders. In any event, the piece consisted of eight variations to the main 16-bar theme. Paling sold 130,000 copies of Swiss Cradle Song.
The Gothard Sisters are three American sisters from Edmonds, Washington, who perform Celtic music and choreographed accompanying Irish dance. They play nationwide at county and state fairs, as well as festivals, and at other venues. Greta, Willow, and Solana Gothard, are violinists, singers, and championship dancers, having added guitar, bodhrán, mandolin, and the pennywhistle to their repertoire. The trio has released several albums.
Background
The Gothard sisters were raised in Edmonds, Washington. Greta began to take classical violin lessons when she was five years old, followed by Willow and then by Solana, when they reached the same age. One day their mother brought home a video of the theatrical show Riverdance, which inspired the girls to enroll in Irish dance classes, and they also became fond of Celtic music. All three became accomplished Irish dancers, and they began to perform classical music and Irish dance at farmers markets, wedding ceremonies, and festivals, to raise funds for travelling to regional and world championships of Irish dance, known as Oireachtas, where they have won awards. The sisters qualified for the World Championships three years in a row.

LYRICS:
I'm in Dreamsville - Holding you
A dreamy view - Just we two alone
With love in Dreamsville - Time is new
We're here to love - And we do
We can see the rest of the world, Below us
From our pink cloud
There's no boundary to this magic land
As we go exploring - Hand in hand
To dreamy Dreamsville - Far away
I'ts here we'll love - Here we'll stay
Dreamy Dreamsville - Far away
I'ts here we'll love - Here we'll stay

Now is the hour when we must say goodbye Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea While you're away, oh then, remember me When you return, you'll find me waiting here Sunset glow fades in the west Night o'er the valley is creeping Birds cuddle down in their nest Soon all the world will be sleeping Now is the hour when we must goodbye Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea While you're away, oh then, remember me When you return, you'll find me waiting here
