The church features a mixture of architectural styles due to additions and renovations over several centuries. The floor plan is Cruciform, including a four-bay nave with north and south porches, wide aisles, a tower in the south transept position, a north transept and a three-bay chancel with organ chamber and vestry. The walls are rubble built, the roof is Cotswold stone, and the ashlar tower has parapets. The remaining Norman work is confined to the buttresses and some chip-carved string at the west end of the church.
A comprehensive school is a state school that does not select its intake on the basis of academic achievement or aptitude. This is in contrast to the selective school system, where admission is restricted on the basis of selection criteria. The term is commonly used in relation to England and Wales, where comprehensive schools were introduced on an experimental basis in the 1940s and became more widespread from 1965. About 90% of British secondary school pupils now attend comprehensive schools. They correspond broadly to the public high school in the United States and Canada and to the German Gesamtschule.
Comprehensive schools are primarily about providing an entitlement curriculum to all children, without selection whether due to financial considerations or attainment. A consequence of that is a wider ranging curriculum, including practical subjects such as design and technology and vocational learning, which were less common or non-existent in grammar schools. Providing post-16 education cost-effectively becomes more challenging for smaller comprehensive schools, because of the number of courses needed to cover a broader curriculum with comparatively fewer students. This is why schools have tended to get larger and also why many local authorities have organised secondary education into 11–16 schools, with the post-16 provision provided by Sixth Form colleges and Further Education Colleges. Comprehensive schools do not select their intake on the basis of academic achievement or aptitude, but there are demographic reasons why the attainment profiles of different schools vary considerably. In addition, government initiatives such as the City Technology Colleges and Specialist schools programmes have made the comprehensive ideal less certain.
Following recent expansion from a six form to eight form entry and a larger sixth form, there are currently 1288 students in the school, aged between 11 and 18. The school is located on London Road. The current Headmaster is Rev. Alan Perry. This school runs with vertical tutoring. It is split into five colleges which are Jupiter college, Mars college, Neptune college, Saturn College and Venus college.
History
The original St. Edward's school was founded as a charity school in 1710. The vestry book for St. Edwards Church in Romford records an entry on 5 September of that year "whereas a charity school is erecting or setting up with all possible speed to be set up and opened in this town of Romford... for the educating of poor children and teaching them to Read and Write and instructing them in the knowledge and practice of the Christian religion as professed and taught in the Church of England".
The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in the 10th century, and since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century, has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world. The English language, the Anglican Church, and English law – the basis for the common law legal systems of many other countries around the world – developed in England, and the country's parliamentary system of government has been widely adopted by other nations. The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation.
The Anglo-Saxon mission began in the last decade of the 7th century in Frisia, whence, Benedict reminded the monks he urged to come to the continental missions, their forebears had come: "Take pity on them, for they themselves are now saying, 'We are of one blood and one bone with you.'" The missions, which drew down the energy and initiative of the English church, spread south and east from there. Almost immediately the Anglo-Saxon missionaries came in contact with the Pippinids, the new dominant family in Frankish territories. The earliest monastery founded by Anglo-Saxons on the continent is Willibrord's Abbey of Echternach (698), founded at a villa granted him by a daughter of Dagobert II. Pepin II, who wished to extend his influence in the Low Countries, granted free passage to Rome to Willibrord, to be consecrated Bishop of Frisia; Norman F. Cantor singles this out as the first joint project between Carolingians and the Papacy: "It set the pattern for their increasing association in the first half of the 8th century as a result of their joint support of the efforts of the Anglo-Saxon missionaries"

New Comprehensive School (1959) - Holland Park School Opening
"Super School Opening", 1958. Original British Pathe newsreel.
"A country-like setting in the heart of London, that's the good fortune of Holland Park school, built to accommodate 2,000 boys and girls. They're getting education under ideal conditions"
We see Lady Norman opening the school officially in the main hall. We're told the equipment in the school cost £60,000 and is amongst the best in the country.
A girl dissects a dog-fish in a school lab, we also see a room of girls learning to type and a shot of boys playing waterpolo in the school swimming pool.
Note: According to the Holland Park School Wikipedia page, notable alumni includes Polly Toynbee, Omid Djalili, Miquita Oliver, Jasper Harris, Flora Fraser and Matthew Symonds.

What is Dar e Arqam?
Being submissive and humble to the will of Almighty ALLAH, we relate this institution to the very first educational centre of Islam, “Dar-e-Arqam” established at Hazrat Arqam Bin Arqam’s house in the plains of Koh-e-Safa by Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W). The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) gets his believers gathered in a small house and laid the foundation of rich civilization that produced marvelous blessings and countless human role models.
Contrary to the present Soulless system of education based on aimless, materialistic and secular approach, the edifice of Dar-e-Arqam System of education is constructed with the bricks, stones and cement of Faith, Sincerity and Sublime Aims and is beautified with active modern scientific ideas about education to equip the innocent saplings of the future tree, with the latest branches of learning so that they can converse with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah side by side with the modern education, and when grown up can raise the status of “Ummah” and take them out of the abyss of darkness.
History of Dar-e-Arqam Schools
The first Dar-e-Arqam School was established in Sargodha in 1991. Then, like minded people gathered and spread the rays of knowledge in a very short time. These schools are progressing and increasing in number tremendously. Right now, The Dar-e-Arqam school is one of the largest growing school systems with more than 170,000 students and more than 660 branches all over Pakistan. This appreciation and recognition by the society is more because of its unique way of imparting modern education with Islamic perspective. Alhamdulillah, many achievements have been made so far in the different areas of curricular and co-curricular activities. The journey towards excellence is on very rapidly and every achievement is a beacon of light and source of inspiration. The practical problems are no doubt there but they don’t come in the way of our enthusiastic, strict and dedicated team of selfless and honest workers. These challenges are like opportunities for us and gives us guidance and tips for future planning.
