James ParkVC (1835 – 14 June 1858) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
James Park (1857–1946) was a New Zealand geologist, director of school of mines, university professor and writer. He was born in Kintore, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1857.
His son Air Commodore Sir Keith Park had a distinguished career in the Royal Air Force in two world wars.
The park has a small lake, St. James's Park Lake, with two islands, West Island, and Duck Island, which is named for the lake's collection of waterfowl. This includes a resident colony of pelicans, which has been a feature of the park since the first gift of the birds from a Russian ambassador in 1664. The Blue Bridge across the lake affords a view west towards Buckingham Palace framed by trees. Looking east the view includes the Swire fountain to the north of Duck Island and, past the lake, the grounds known as the Horse Guards Parade, with the Horse Guards building, the Old War Office building, and Whitehall Court progressively behind. To the south of Duck Island is the Tiffany fountain situated on Pelican Rock, and past the lake is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with the London Eye, the Shell Tower, and The Shard progressively behind.
James Park is an American tech entrepreneur. He co-founded and is CEO of Fitbit. He was named in 2015 among Fortune magazine's 40 Under 40, an annual ranking of the most influential young people in business. With a net worth of $660 million estimated by Forbes, he is ranked #29 in the magazine's America's Richest Entrepreneurs Under 40" in 2015.
Early life
Park is of Korean descent. He started undergraduate study at Harvard in computer science but dropped out.
Fitbit
He co-founded Fitbit with Eric Friedman in April 2007 after according to a Forbes profile "realizing the potential of sensors such as accelerometers paired with smaller and smaller devices". The co-founders started with an initial investment of $400,000 contributed by themselves and others but realized one year after starting that more funds would be needed for a product launch. They were able to get additional funding from SoftTech and True Ventures. Park found the initial stages of developing the product to be tough especially in finding a hardware manufacturer. He recalled the search for the right supplier and organizing the production line in Asia left the company "pretty close to being dead."
Old Toronto is the retronym of the original city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from 1834 to 1998. It was first incorporated as a city in 1834, after being known as the Town of York, and became part of York County. In 1954, it became the administrative headquarters for Metropolitan Toronto. It expanded in size by annexation of surrounding municipalities, reaching its final boundaries in 1967. Finally, in 1998, it was amalgamated into the present-day "megacity" of Toronto.
Post-amalgamation, the area within the boundaries of the former city is variously referred to as the "former city of Toronto" or "Old Toronto". Historically, Old Toronto has referred to Toronto's boundaries before the Great Toronto Fire of 1904, when much of city's development was to the east of Yonge Street. The term "downtown core" is also sometimes used to refer to the district, which actually refers to the central business district of Toronto, which is located within the former city.

Well, I went down to Old Joe's Barroom Down on the corner by the square They were serving drinks as usual Oh, the usual crowd was there In the corner sat Big Joe McKenzie His eyes were blood shot red And as he turned to address the crowd around him These were the very words that he said: Well I went down to St James Infirmary To see my baby there She was laid out on that long white table So cold, so pale, so fair Let her go, let her go, God bless her Where ever she may be Let her search that whole wide world over Never find a man as sweet as me She'll never find a man as sweet as me When I die, won't you bury me in my high top Stetson hat Put a twenty dollar gold piece on my watch hand So the gang'll know I died standing pat I want six crapshooters for pallbearers Pretty gals sing me a song I want a jazz band on my hearse wagon To raise Hell as we roll 'long Won't you roll out that rubber tire hack Thirteen men go down to that old graveyard There's only twelve of them men coming back Now that you heard my story Have another shot of the booze Anything anybody should ask I got the St James Infirmary blues
