For example, Shirley MacLaine had worked on a film called Two Mules for Sister Sara. Initially, the leading man of this particular film wanted Elizabeth Taylor to star alongside him. However, the starlet was cast and it was Shirley MacLaine who was cast instead. Let’s just say this didn’t exactly go well for her as the leading man didn’t want to work with her.
But it seems that Shirley MacLaine doesn’t just have issues with her co-stars on set. She’s also expressed her discomfort at working with a host on a talk show. This was her experience when she appeared on Late Night With David Letterman when he kept pestering her about her beliefs in something he found unusual.
Shirley MacLaine, however, hasn’t just had issues with the star of Two Mules for Sister Sara and David Letterman. She also found one of our greatest actors, Sir Antony Hopkins to be incredibly obnoxious! And it’s not just the men whom she’s clashed with, she also couldn’t get along with actress Debra Winger.
Yet, Shirley MacLaine has persisted and has over 70 credits to her name. She’s approaching 90 and she’s still got a few upcoming projects. One wonders how she managed to persist in this otherwise ruthless industry when she’s had her issues with some of her co-stars. Her story is a fascinating one and today, we’re glad to give you the scoop.

ABOUT RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN
After long and highly distinguished careers with other collaborators, Richard Rodgers (Composer, 1902-1979) and Oscar Hammerstein II (Librettist/Lyricist, 1895-1960) joined forces in 1943 to create the most successful partnership in American musical theater. Prior to joining forces, Rodgers collaborated with lyricist Lorenz Hart on musical comedies that epitomized wit and sophistication (Pal Joey, On Your Toes, Babes In Arms and more), while Hammerstein brought new life to operetta and created the classic Show Boat with Jerome Kern. Oklahoma!, the first Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, introduced an integrated form that became known as “the musical play.” Their shows that followed included Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music. Collectively, the Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals have earned Tony, Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer, and Olivier Awards. The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization is a Concord Company, www.concord.com.
