Roman Catholic, or simply "Roman", as it is often called, was founded by Thomas E. Cahill, a nineteenth-century Philadelphia merchant. Cahill saw the need to create a school that offered a free Catholic education for boys, past their grammar school years. He died before he saw his vision come to life; however, the wishes that he laid out in his will were followed. As such, Roman Catholic opened its doors in 1890 and offered a free education to boys. Despite Cahill's dream, due to increased costs of staff and facilities, free admission to the school ended in the 1960s.
Crisis of the 1980s
In 1985, the Archdiocese slated the school for closing due to lowering enrollment. However, Roman's alumni association, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Philadelphia Cardinal John Krol, embarked on a campaign to save the school.
Founded in 1935 by Rev. Fr. Edward Becheras, a French missionary, the school caters for students who are fluent in both English and Chinese. The school has produced 20 President's Scholars and numerous recipients of other scholarships. Some of its alumni are leaders in the public and private sectors. It was ranked in the Band 1 tables of the Ministry of Education school academic rankings until such rankings were abolished in 2012. In 2008, it was awarded the School Distinction Award under the MOE Master Plan of Awards, which recognizes high-achieving schools with exemplary processes and practices.
Cathedral High School is part of New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and traces its roots back to 1872.
Academic Assessment
National Academic Program Honors Cathedral High School Students
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. NMSC is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. Scholarships awarded through the program are underwritten by NMSC’s own funds and approximately 500 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence. Less than 1% of each state's high school seniors qualify as semifinalists. Only 350 students from Minnesota representing 25% of the high schools in the state have been named National Merit Semifinalists. There are 16,000 semifinalists nationwide annually.
In most jurisdictions, secondary education in the United States refers to the last four years of statutory formal education (grade nine through grade twelve) either at high school or split between a final year of 'junior high school' and three in high school.
History
The United States historically had a demand for general skills rather than specific training/apprenticeships. High school enrollment increased when schools at this level became free, laws required children to attend until a certain age, and it was believed that every American student had the opportunity to participate regardless of their ability.
In 1892, in response to many competing academic philosophies being promoted at the time, a working group of educators, known as the "Committee of Ten" was established by the National Education Association. It recommended twelve years of instruction, consisting of eight years of elementary education followed by four years of high school. Rejecting suggestions that high schools should divide students into college-bound and working-trades groups from the start, and in some cases also by race or ethnic background, they unanimously recommended that "every subject which is taught at all in a secondary school should be taught in the same way and to the same extent to every pupil so long as he pursues it, no matter what the probable destination of the pupil may be, or at what point his education is to cease."
Upon its release, "High School" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who felt its production was reminiscent of her earlier mixtape tracks. It peaked at number 64 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and additionally reached numbers 15 and 20 on the BillboardHot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs component charts. Elsewhere, the track charted moderately throughout international singles charts, including number 31 on the UK Singles Chart.
An accompanying music video was directed by Benny Boom, in which Minaj is depicted in the midst of an affair with Lil Wayne. The clip additionally includes footage of the "Pink Pill", a variation of the "Beats Pro" speaker created by Beats Electronics in collaboration with Minaj.

They shall obtain the scope of a sound education” remains firmly as a cornerstone of the school’s philosophy.

Super 24 brings a new dimension to dance showcase competitions in Singapore. With the increase in popularity and formation of dance interest groups, there has arisen a need to create a new platform for these groups to showcase not just their dance talents, but also the depth of their unity.
SUPER 24 EMPHASIZES TEAMWORK AND INGENUITY – QUALITIES THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO WORKING WITHIN THE NOVEL CONSTRAINTS THIS COMPETITION BRINGS.
Teams are to consist of exactly 24 members, dancing within an 8 by 8 metre square, performing a strictly 90-second routine. To add to these challenges, Super 24 diverges from normal dance competition practice of “front view” judging, and introduces 4-sided judging, where no area will be left uncovered, no action unnoticed. In this competition, “every dancer counts”.
The team that best exemplifies adaptability, creativity and team unity – displaying an ability to turn the presented constraints into advantages by tapping on the important resource of all their team mates – a spirit best epitomised by our country Singapore – will win the championship and be known as ‘Super 24’.

A flyover video of the Catholic High School, beginning with a view of our signature Clock Tower and the Primary section, eventually turning towards our school field and Indoor Sports Hall, ending next to the Secondary classroom block.

Catholic High School (CHS) is one of Singapore’s highly regarded institutions under the auspices of the Catholic Archdiocese. It is a Catholic institution but takes in both Catholic and non-Catholic students. As a full-school, it has both the Primary and Secondary sections housed on the same large compound.
Founded in 1935 by the late Rev. Fr. Edward Becheras, a French missionary, the school had her humble beginnings within the premises of the Church of St Peter and Paul at Queen Street. CHS relocated to its present site in Bishan in 1992 to cope with the demand for places.
Reverend Father Becheras envisioned the school as an institution of learning, and also one for acquiring competence in bilingualism. His enunciation – “The way of the Catholic High School is a way made of two rails – Chinese and English, free from any entanglement, straight to its end. Happy are those who follow. They shall obtain the scope of a sound education” remains firmly as a cornerstone of the school’s philosophy.

Students at a number of Catholic schools in York Region in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Ontario, Canada held walkouts Thursday to demonstrate against the board’s recent decision not to fly the Pride flag outside their headquarters during Pride month.
But at one school, those protests took an unexpected turn.
Dozens of students participated in the walkout at St. Brother Andre in Markham, Ont. But these intended messages were quickly drowned out by the noise of a rowdy crowd that had joined the demonstration.
The disruptive group of students tore through Pride posters, shouted homophobic slurs, danced on Pride flags and threw Pride bracelets and random objects at people, according to witnesses.

Bubble gum and house parties When you stole your parents rum And tried to screw everything that could breathe Back in high school we didn't have a whole lot to do We watched the world go by on the television screen Said it's the 90's kids that's way out this is way in Go beat each other up on the dance floor Told us drugs were no good But then we smoked 'em and liked 'em So much that we smoked a little more We liked 'em so much, we smoked a little more Did I call your name? Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you? You're so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you It's kinda hard with all that sexual confusion Sometimes you don't know if you're gay or straight But what's the difference, it's a wonderful illusion Most times you won't make it past second base I'm in a band, we kinda suck but we don't now it yet And I don't care anyway 'Cuz soon, I'm gonna sell these drums, pay my rent Support my kid and tell him all about way back in daddy's day I'll tell him all about way back in daddy's day Did I call your name? Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you? You're so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you Some years later by a soda coolerator In a corner store back in my home town This stranger smiles at me, said "Remember the class of '93?" And for some reason it makes him look real proud After all the good times he said we had He looks at me, scratches his head And asked me where the hell I ever went And the funny thing is that I never even knew him But he coulda been any one of my high school friends Did I call your name? Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you? Your so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you Did I call you name? Singin' that song that I wrote for you Singin' that song I wrote for you
