The National Action Network is a not-for-profit, civil rights organization founded by the Reverend Al Sharpton in New York City, New York, in early 1991.
Organization
The organization's Board of Directors is chaired by Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson. The Board of Directors has a tradition of including those most recognized in the civil rights movement, as it was first chaired by Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker, Pastor Emeritus of Canaan Baptist Church, New York, and former Executive Director to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition to Dr. Walker, the late Coretta Scott King, widow of Martin Luther King, and her son, Martin Luther King, III, support the organization and participate annually in the Keepers of the Dream Awards Dinner and National Convention.
National Action Network's Annual Convention draws leaders from media, business, politics, entertainment and the civil rights from across the country. The 2007 convention featured six presidential candidates and was dubbed by the media as the "Sharpton Primary." In Barack Obama's speech during the 2007 convention he said that Rev. Al Sharpton was “The voice of the voiceless and a champion for the downtrodden.” In 2011 President Barack Obama delivered a keynote address at their convention, applauding NAN’s activism by saying: “National Action Network is not the National “Satisfaction” Network; it’s the National “Action” Network.”. National Action Network's convention in April of 2014 close to 7,000 people attended, making it the biggest in the history of the organization and the largest civil rights convening of the year in the nation. During the 2014 convention President Barack Obama returned to address over 1,200 convention attendees where he addressed voting rights and said "We’ve got to create a national network committed to taking action. We can call it the National Action Network."
National Action is a neo-NaziBritish nationalist protest group. The group is secretive, and has rules to prevent members from talking openly about the organisation.
Members
A member known as "Tom", who was 18 years old at the time, was interviewed by the Huffington Post in March 2014. He named José Antonio Primo de Rivera of the Spanish Falange, Alexander Raven Thomson and Oswald Mosley of the British Union of Fascists, and writer Wyndham Lewis as inspiration for National Action. The group's strategy document twice quoted Adolf Hitler, which "Tom" called "a bit dodgy". He explained it by saying "What has been a successful nationalist movement? Oh it was [the Nazis]...That's why we're using [the Nazis]. They used it and they were able to gain power...Gottfried Feder, who was an economist and a member of the NSDAP, he had some good ideas".
An investigation by the Daily Mirror found Benjamin Raymond, age 25 in June 2014, to be the leader of National Action. He is a former double-glazing salesman who graduated in Politics from Essex University in 2013. Another member was found to be 19-year-old Alex Davies of Swansea, who withdrew from a first-year course in philosophy at Warwick University in June 2014 after his involvement in National Action was revealed. A university spokesman said to the Mirror "Any such allegations are taken seriously." Davies had joined the Young BNP at 16, but found the group to be in "disarray". He describes the difference between the two groups as: "We're targeting universities regularly. That's something the BNP never had. We've built something in a few months the BNP didn't have in 20 years."
National Action was founded by Jorge Prat Echaurren, Sergio Onofre Jarpa and Tobías Barros on November 15, 1963; their board of directors consisting of Sergio Onofre Jarpa as president and Renato Marino as secretary. The party sought to raise Prat bid for the presidential election of 1964, but this was deposed in April 1964.
Some of the members of National Action were Mario Arnello Romo, Sergio Miranda Carrington, and Hugo Gálvez. The group also included former supporters of defunct President Carlos Ibáñez del Campo (Ibañistas) and former members of the National Syndicalist Revolutionary Movement (Movimiento Revolucionario Nacional Sindicalista, MRNS), that doesn't had legal existence, and therefore had difficulties to compete in elections.
The party presented a list in parliamentary elections in 1965. The list of senators in Santiago got 54,536 votes, which were not enough to choose any senator. Lists of deputies, however, gained only 15,173 votes distributed in the provinces of Tarapacá, Valparaiso, Santiago and Talca, not choosing any parliamentarian. In May 1966 it merged with the Liberal Party and the United Conservative Party to form the National Party.

A man has been found guilty of being a member of a neo-Nazi group after the organisation was banned.
Alex Davies, 27, from Swansea, was convicted of being a member of National Action (NA) after it was proscribed by the government in December 2016.
It comes after an ITV News investigation in 2017 revealed that members of Britain’s first far-right terrorist group were still meeting in secret “training camps” despite the ban.

Last year, a 16-year-old boy from Durham became the youngest person ever convicted of planning a terrorist attack in the UK, prompting reporter Daniel De Simone to delve deeper into this shadowy world. Police say right-wing extremism is the fastest-growing terrorist threat in the UK and that the coronavirus pandemic may be leaving young people vulnerable to radicalisation. As Daniel investigates the Durham case, he notices certain names cropping up again and again. Working with investigative journalist Ali Winston in the US, he tracks down some of the movement's most influential figures and reveals how the network operates across the globe.
