A National Health Service trust is an organisation within the English NHS generally serving either a geographical area or a specialised function (such as an ambulance service). In any particular location there may be several trusts involved in the different aspects of healthcare for a resident.
The trusts are not trusts in the legal sense but are in effect public sector corporations. Each trust is headed by a board consisting of executive and non-executive directors, and is chaired by a non-executive director. There were about 2,200 non-executives across 470 organisations in the NHS in England in 2015. Non-executive directors are recruited by open advertisement. The Trusts which have not achieved Foundation status are now managed by the NHS Trust Development Authority. Board members are, from November 2014, subject to a Fit and proper person test.
Another part of Emily's (Emily VanCamp) plan is set in motion when she goes on her first date with Daniel (Josh Bowman). Also, Victoria's (Madeleine Stowe) suspicions about Emily grow, so she tries to find more information on her new neighbor.
Originally, the corporate trust was a legal device used to consolidate power in large American corporate enterprises. In January 1882, Samuel C. T. Dodd, Standard Oil’s General Solicitor, conceived of the corporate trust to help John D. Rockefeller consolidate his control over the many acquisitions of Standard Oil, which was already the largest corporation in the world. The Standard Oil Trust was formed pursuant to a "trust agreement" in which the individual shareholders of many separate corporations agreed to convey their shares to the trust; it ended up entirely owning 14 corporations and also exercised majority control over 26 others. Nine individuals held trust certificates and acted as the trust's board of trustees. Of course, one of those trustees was Rockefeller himself, who held 41% of the trust certificates; the next most powerful trustee only held about 12%. This kind of arrangement became popular and soon had many imitators.
The Stargate Program is a fictional special access program that plays a key role in the Stargate franchise: it surrounds the operations of the Stargate on Earth. The core of the Stargate Program is Stargate Command (SGC), based at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station near Colorado Springs, Colorado. During the run of Stargate SG-1, the NID is most critical of the Stargate Program, while the program is extended through the establishment of the Office of Homeworld Security/Homeworld Command and the International Oversight Advisory (IOA). The Atlantis Project as seen in Stargate Atlantis is part of the Stargate Program but works independently during season 1 of the show.
Despite alien attacks such as in "Lost City" and "Ex Deus Machina", all attempts are made throughout the series to keep the existence of the Stargate Program secret, assuming there would be mass panic if the public found out. Several alternate-universe episodes address the public reaction to the revelation of the Stargate Program. Nevertheless, some conspiracy theorists in the series assume extraterrestrial activity at the highest levels of the military. A very few select civilians such as Pete Shanahan and Jeannie Miller are also aware of the existence of the Program.
Nance-Horan syndrome protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NHSgene.
This gene encodes a protein containing four conserved nuclear localization signals. The encoded protein may function during the development of the eyes, teeth, and brain. Mutations in this gene have been shown to cause Nance-Horan syndrome. An alternative splice variant has been described, but its full-length nature has not been determined.
NHS Scotland had an operating budget of £11.9 billion in 2012–13, up from £11.35 billion during 2010-11.
Health and social care are devolved issues in the United Kingdom and the separate public healthcare bodies of Scotland, England and Wales are each commonly referred to as "National Health Service". The NHS in Scotland was created as an administratively separate organisation in 1948 under the ministerial oversight of the Scottish Office, before being politically devolved in 1999. This separation of powers and financing is not always apparent to the general public due to the co-ordination and co-operation where cross-border emergency care is involved.
NHS 111 is a free-to-call single non-emergency number medical helpline operating in England and Scotland. The service is part of each region's National Health Service and has replaced the telephone triage and advice services provided by NHS Direct, NHS24 and local GPout-of-hours services. The transition was completed in England during February 2014 with Scotland following during April 2014. NHS Direct Wales continues to use the 0845 46 47 number.
The service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year and is intended for 'urgent but not life-threatening' health issues and complements the long-established 999 emergency telephone number for more serious matters, although 111 operators are able to dispatch ambulances when appropriate using the NHS Pathways triage system.
NHS Direct Wales continues to operate via 0845 4647, but it is intended the 111 service will begin coming into service on a phased basis from October 2015. The health service of Northern Ireland will be able to introduce its own similar service using the same number if it chooses to do so.
Newsnight has been investigating one of the worst performing Hospital Trusts in England, and can report allegations that University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust (UHB) - one of the biggest in the country - has been using disciplinary investigations to punish senior clinicians who have raised patient safety concerns.
In the past decade, the trust has referred 26 of its doctors to the General Medical Council which can investigate a doctor's fitness to practise, a Freedom of Information Act request by an NHS safety campaigner found. In all cases the GMC took no further action.
Current and former senior doctors say the "mafia style" Trust is more interested in protecting its own reputation than what is happening on wards at the hospital.

Local Accreditation at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust
A local accreditation programme has been implemented at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT). Wards across the Trust are regularly inspected by a team of independent senior nurses and assessed against a range of measures. ULHT has created 13 quality standards which the wards are measured against. During an inspection of a ward, the senior nursing team will look at many areas of care including how falls and pressure ulcers are prevented on the ward, how the correct nutrition for patients is maintained, the experience of patients, the workforce in the area, infection prevention performance and the end of life care provided.
Each ward will be given a rating of Red, Amber, or Green based on how it scores in the 13 standards. The ward team will then be supported to develop and imple...

The Trust, which has one of the worst records for patient outcomes, was last year rated "requires improvement" by healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission.
The Trust said: "All patient safety concerns and incidents are rigorously investigated to prevent harm to our patients." They also said there were well-established routes and support in place for staff to raise concerns, and it promoted and encouraged this.
UHB Foundation Trust looks after the health of more than two million people but currently has neither a permanent Chief Executive nor Chair. David Grossman reports the investigation conducted jointly with BBC West Midlands, and produced by Sean Clare.
