There’s just something about going on The Howard Stern Show that makes celebrities open up in ways they might not on other talk shows. Once upon a time, Stern was best known as a shock jock, saying everything and anything that would rile people up, and while there is still undeniably a bit of that on his SiriusXM show today, his current laid-back format allows guests to feel like they’re having a conversation with a friend. From the celebrities who spilled all the details of their love life, to the actors who admitted they hated movies they were in, here are some of the most outrageous confessions obtained by Howard Stern.

In August of 1997, "Clay the Serial Killer", a self-proclaimed serial murderer in New Orleans, Louisiana, called The Howard Stern Show and casually confessed to over 12 murders live on-air.
Before we go any further, I want to be crystal clear about the details discussed, and the contents of the audio in this story. This subject matter may be disturbing to some viewers. Discretion is advised.
Getting word from the call screener there was a listener on hold named Ed who claims to kill prostitutes, Stern immediately puts him on-air.
The phone call starts out a bit rocky as Stern goes to the phone call and asks "Is this Ed? Ed?"
Stern then launches into a flurry of questions, asking Clay why he kills women, how he kills them, if he has sex with them, and more.
You can tell initially that Stern and Robin aren't really taking the guy seriously, and who can blame them? Back in the day, The Howard Stern Show routinely received tons of insane calls from people claiming many wild things.
But that all changes a couple of minutes into this strange and disturbing phone call.
Realizing the call could be real, that the man on the phone could actually be a dangerous serial killer, Stern and Robin began carefully grilling Clay in hopes of getting a few solid leads for authorities.
Stern goes on to ask questions about Clay's motives behind why he kills, his methods of murder, and even asking if he has any tattoos, but the caller was very cunning and careful to not incriminate himself.
The entire call is unnerving, but there are parts of the call that are absolutely terrifying...and this guy was stalking and killing people right down I-10 only a couple of hours away.
In a somewhat aggravated tone of voice, the caller answers "No. I never said my name was Ed" almost as if to say "How dare you get my name wrong".
To me, that's definitely a red flag as to what kind of guy we're talking about here.
The caller then goes on to say "You can call me Clay".
Howard Stern then asks Clay how many prostitutes he's killed. Clay quickly, and almost with a sense of pride, callously answers "Twelve".
Was it real, or was this just another one of Stern's lowbrow stunts that he's famous for?
I say, lowbrow, not in an attempt to throw shade. I mean, he's a multi-millionaire and arguably the most recognized name in broadcasting, so clearly he's kind of good at his job. Watch!

Howard Stern to anti-vaxxers: 'You had the cure and you wouldn't take it'

Howard Stern is over the Covid-19 pandemic and is taking on anti-vaxxers who refuse to get the shot.
Speaking on his SiriusXM satellite radio show about the recent deaths of several anti-vaxxer radio hosts, Stern said people who won't get vaccinated are "idiots" and called for vaccinations to be mandatory.
"When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say it's mandatory to get vaccinated? F--- 'em. F--- their freedom. I want my freedom to live," he said. "I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bull----."
Stern, who is vaccinated, is also frustrated over Covid patients who chose not to get vaccinated causing hospitals to be overwhelmed.
"If you have a heart attack or any kind of problem, you can't even get into the E.R. And I'm really of mind to say, 'Look, if you didn't get vaccinated and you got Covid, you don't get into a hospital.'"
For emphasis, he added, "You had the cure and you wouldn't take it."

Howard Stern responds to controversy over resurfaced blackface performance
By Chloe Melas, CNN
Howard Stern is speaking out after a television special from 1993 resurfaced in which the radio host appears in blackface and repeatedly used racist language.
Stern addressed the controversial performance on his SiriusXM show Monday.
"The sh*t I did was f***ing crazy," Stern said. "I'll be the first to admit. I won't go back and watch those old shows; it's like, who is that guy? But that was my shtick, that's what I did and I own it. I don't think I got embraced by Nazi groups and hate groups. They seemed to think I was against them too. Everybody had a bone to pick with me."
The offensive sketch is from a pay-per-view New Year's Eve special in which Stern and his longtime co-host, Robin Quivers satirized a Friar's Club Roast of Whoopi Goldberg in 1993 where Ted Danson, who was then dating Goldberg, had dressed in blackface.
Danson received widespread criticism at the time, but the Associated Press reported that Goldberg and some other African-American celebrities also came to his defense.
Danson reflected on the incident in a 2009 interview with NPR, calling it "a graceless moment in my life."
CNN has contacted Danson's representative for comment.
Stern, 66, went on to say that if he had a chance to do it all over again he wouldn't have worn blackface.
