M12 (artist collective)
M12, aka M12 STUDIO, is an American artist collective and non-profit organization based in Byers, Colorado that features an evolving group of artist practitioners, curators, and designers. Together they create artworks, research projects, and education programs that explore rural cultures and landscapes. Initially formed as the municipalWORKSHOP in 2002 in York, Alabama by Richard Saxton when he was an artist-in-residence at the Rural Studio, an architecture studio run by Auburn University, the group evolved into M12 in 2007 when it became incorporated as a non-profit organization. The core members have created over 20 projects since founding; their work was featured in the 2014 publication "A Decade of Country Hits: Art on the Rural Frontier."
History
The municipalWORKSHOP was created in 2002 by Richard Saxton based on an effort to bring a "rural renaissance" to the small town of York, Alabama. This art laboratory aimed to work with municipalities and communities to develop more creative approaches to living in rural America. The organization's first project was called Utility Now!, a series of pedal-powered street-sweepers and utility tricycles and bicycles for city crews to better maintain York.

Artist collective
An artist collective is an initiative that is the result of a group of artists working together, usually under their own management, towards shared aims. The aims of an artist collective can include almost anything that is relevant to the needs of the artist, this can range from purchasing bulk materials, sharing equipment, space or materials, through to following shared ideologies, aesthetic and political views or even living and working together as an extended family. Sharing of ownership, risk, benefits, and status is implied, as opposed to other, more common business structures with an explicit hierarchy of ownership such as an association or a company.
Artist collectives have occurred throughout history, often gathered around central resources, for instance the ancient sculpture workshops at the marble quarries on Milos in Greece and Carrara in Italy. Collectives featured during both the Russian revolution when they were set up by the state in all major communities, and the French Revolution when the Louvre in Paris was occupied as an artist collective.

List of bus routes in Manhattan
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates a number of bus routes in Manhattan, New York, United States. Many of them are the direct descendants of streetcar lines (see list of streetcar lines in Manhattan).
Companies
Presently, the New York City Transit Authority and its subsidiary Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority operate most local buses in Manhattan. The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation operates the Roosevelt Island Red Bus Service on Roosevelt Island.
The first bus company in Manhattan was the Fifth Avenue Coach Company, which began operating the Fifth Avenue Line (now the M1 route) in 1886. When New York Railways began abandoning several streetcar lines in 1919, the replacement bus routes (including the current M21 and M22 routes) were picked up by the New York City Department of Plant and Structures (DP&S). The DP&S began operating several other buses (including the current M79 and M96 routes) in 1921. All of these but the M21 were acquired by Green Bus Lines in 1933; Green transferred several of these to the Comprehensive Omnibus Corporation in 1935.

Collective
A collective is a group of entities that share or are motivated by at least one common issue or interest, or work together to achieve a common objective. Collectives differ from cooperatives in that they are not necessarily focused upon an economic benefit or saving, but can be that as well.
The term "collective" is sometimes used to describe a species as a whole—for example, the human collective.
Types of groups
Collectives are sometimes characterised by attempts to share and exercise political and social power and to make decisions on a consensus-driven and egalitarian basis.
A commune or intentional community, which may also be known as a "collective household", is a group of people who live together in some kind of dwelling or residence, or in some other arrangement (e.g. sharing land). Collective households may be organized for a specific purpose (e.g. relating to business, parenting, or some other shared interest).
An artist collective is typically a collection of individuals with similar interests in producing and documenting art as a group. These groups are often composed of friends or friends of friends from all walks of life with different beliefs, careers, & religions, and can range in size from a few people to thousands of members. The style of art produced can have vast differences. Motivations can be for a common cause or individually motivated purposes. Some collectives are simply people who enjoy painting with someone else and have no other goals or motivations for forming their collective.

Collective (BBC)
Collective was an "interactive culture magazine" hosted by the BBC's website bbc.co.uk and run using the "DNA" software developed for h2g2. It was launched in May 2002 and became interactive four months later. Among its editors were Rowan Kerek, Jonathan Carter, Alastair Lee, James Cowdery and Matt Walton, the magazine's originator. The bulk of its content consisted of weekly reviews and discussion of new music, films, video games and/or books.
Contributors to Collective included artist Billy Childish, Rhianna Pratchett and various freelance journalists such as film reviewer Leigh Singer and film and games journalist Daniel Etherington. Submissions could be made regardless of professional status by anyone who had registered as a member of the magazine.
The magazine was felt to have a strong sense of community and its discussions extended to current affairs and weblogs. Its video-game coverage was considered to be more inclusive in its tone than much of the coverage produced by, for example, specialist media. As at h2g2, each member was given a userpage (a "my space") where their contributions and interactions were listed.

Collective (Star Trek: Voyager)
"Collective" is the 136th episode of Star Trek: Voyager, the 16th episode of the sixth season.
Chakotay, Harry Kim, Tom Paris and Neelix are taken hostage when the Delta Flyer is captured by a Borg cube. However, the cube is littered with dead drones and controlled solely by a small group of unmatured Borg children who were left behind, unworthy of re-assimilation. The underdeveloped drones attempt to assimilate their captives, while Captain Janeway sends Seven of Nine to negotiate.
Plot
After the Delta Flyer is intercepted by a Borg cube, Chakotay, Paris and Neelix find themselves placed in what appears to be an assimilation chamber. However, Kim is not with them. A dead body lies on a table in the center of the room. It is partially assimilated and its face and arm are covered with implants that appear crudely inserted.
Meanwhile, Voyager discovers that the Borg cube's propulsion system is off-line. The cube first targets Voyager's warp core and then moves to its impulse engines. While the cube's attack strategy is erratic and inefficient, Voyager capably disables the cube's weapons. Seven discovers that there are only five signatures, instead of thousands of Borg, manning the vessel.

Amber Film and Photography collective have been embedded within Newcastle’s working class community for over half a century. Their building houses an independent cinema, gallery, film production company and international photographic archive allowing them to control the production and distribution of their socially engaged work.
Art Boyz is a collective of young Londoners made up of friends Anayo Nkwocha, Yvonne Shelling & Amardeep Sura. The self-appointed family pooled their resources to push their careers in the arts to the next level. Their counter-cultural work seeks to exceed the limits of fine art and straddles music, sculpture, fashion and youth work.
Baesianz is a collective and platform based in London, that celebrates Asian artists from all over the globe. Founded by Sami Kimberley, Sarah Khan and Roxanne Farahmand, their work is inclusive of all Asian heritage identities, including mixed heritage, Asians, trans, queer and gender non-conforming Asians.
Cooking Sections was formed in 2013 by Alon Schwabe & Daniel Fernández Pascual after an architecture programme led them to think about food as a tool to investigate the construction of space. Since then, their expansive approach to exhibition making has brought a wide range of environmentally engaged expertise to their practice. Alongside art practice they lead a studio unit at Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture.
Project Art Works is a collective based in Hastings since 1997. Their collaborative fusion of art and care challenges traditional approaches to inclusion. Working with neurodiverse artists and makers, Project Art Works reimagines the boundaries of what a socially engaged charity, community organisation and artists studio can be.
Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries is a Seoul based web art collective that fuses multimedia software, original music and poetry to channel their artistic impulses. Ever responsive, ever irreverent, their work has travelled the world to be experienced in online and traditional gallery spaces. In their fourth decade of collaboration, the group remains as prolific and consistent as ever. Hailing from a string of districts across South London, this multi-disciplinary artist collective has risen through the ranks of the underground on their own terms, earning respect and admiration for their broad and atypical approach to music production and promotion. Last Night In Paris have already starred in and self-produced a series of horror-themed music videos so visually striking they could give the major labels a run for their money. With that in mind, we headed out onto the streets of suburban London to see what would happen when these talented individuals met a shoe that matched their own renegade persona: the Converse One Star.

What is an art collective? Look no further. We are grateful to the following collectives and the innumerable others whose work makes this film possible.
Amber Film and Photography collective have been embedded within Newcastle’s working class community for over half a century. Their building houses an independent cinema, gallery, film production company and international photographic archive allowing them to control the production and distribution of their socially engaged work.
Art Boyz is a collective of young Londoners made up of friends Anayo Nkwocha, Yvonne Shelling & Amardeep Sura. The self-appointed family pooled their resources to push their careers in the arts to the next level. Their counter-cultural work seeks to exceed the limits of fine art and straddles music, sculpture, fashion and youth work.
Baesianz is a collective and platform based in London, that celebrates Asian artists from all over the globe. Founded by Sami Kimberley, Sarah Khan and Roxanne Farahmand, their work is inclusive of all Asian heritage identities, including mixed heritage, Asians, trans, queer and gender non-conforming Asians.
Cooking Sections was formed in 2013 by Alon Schwabe & Daniel Fernández Pascual after an architecture programme led them to think about food as a tool to investigate the construction of space. Since then, their expansive approach to exhibition making has brought a wide range of environmentally engaged expertise to their practice. Alongside art practice they lead a studio unit at Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture.
Project Art Works is a collective based in Hastings since 1997. Their collaborative fusion of art and care challenges traditional approaches to inclusion. Working with neurodiverse artists and makers, Project Art Works reimagines the boundaries of what a socially engaged charity, community organisation and artists studio can be.
Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries is a Seoul based web art collective that fuses multimedia software, original music and poetry to channel their artistic impulses. Ever responsive, ever irreverent, their work has travelled the world to be experienced in online and traditional gallery spaces. In their fourth decade of collaboration, the group remains as prolific and consistent as ever. M12 (artist collective)
M12, aka M12 STUDIO, is an American artist collective and non-profit organization based in Byers, Colorado that features an evolving group of artist practitioners, curators, and designers. Together they create artworks, research projects, and education programs that explore rural cultures and landscapes. Initially formed as the municipalWORKSHOP in 2002 in York, Alabama by Richard Saxton when he was an artist-in-residence at the Rural Studio, an architecture studio run by Auburn University, the group evolved into M12 in 2007 when it became incorporated as a non-profit organization. The core members have created over 20 projects since founding; their work was featured in the 2014 publication "A Decade of Country Hits: Art on the Rural Frontier."
History
The municipalWORKSHOP was created in 2002 by Richard Saxton based on an effort to bring a "rural renaissance" to the small town of York, Alabama. This art laboratory aimed to work with municipalities and communities to develop more creative approaches to living in rural America. The organization's first project was called Utility Now!, a series of pedal-powered street-sweepers and utility tricycles and bicycles for city crews to better maintain York.
