1st Century Roman Emperors | Realistic Face Reconstruction Using AI and Photoshop
► Realistic Face Reconstruction of 1st Century Roman Emperors
► Hello and welcome back everyone. Today we are presenting work of a talented digital artist who is recreating faces of Roman emperors, based on their dusty statues and historical references. Haroun Binous is a student in University of Lausanne in Switzerland who has always been fascinated by Roman history and in particular with Roman emperors. He decided to combine facial recognition computer algorithms (Artificial Intelligence) and Photoshop, to revive and reconstruct realistic looking faces of the emperors, from Augustus to Valentinian III. Results are so amazing and true to life, they have to be seen. As usual in my videos of this kind, a touch of animation is added to give an extra flair. Enjoy!

Timeline of the Roman and Byzantine Emperors
Rome. The state that turned from tiny settlements around the Palatine Hill in central Italy into a vast empire that ruled most of western europe and mediteranean for centuries and formed the framework for todays states.
Let us get into a journey through time, from Augustus, the first emperor of Rome, to the final ruler of the Byzantine Empire. Along the way, we'll encounter both great and terrible emperors, and witness golden and tumultuous ages.
The map shows the territory controlled by the emperor at the end of his reign.
The jointly rule of two or more emperors is indicated by a white line between their names.
Portraits are from Wikimedia.

We're going STREAKING!
The image I used for Panthea and Verus depicts neither of them with historical accuracy. I only researched it for an hour but I do not believe there was ever an image of Panthea that has survived to modern day. She is mentioned both in the "Historia Augusta" and in the writings of one Marcus Aurelius. Huge bummer she was not committed to image, I wish smartphones, instagram and tik tok had existed back then.

Title: The Forgotten Emperor| Unraveling the Mystery of Otho's Reign and Legacy.
Otho, in full Marcus Otho Caesar Augustus, original name Marcus Salvius Otho, (born AD 32—died April 16, 69, near Cremona, Venetia [Italy]), Roman emperor from January to April 69.
Otho was born into a family that had held the consulship under Augustus. He married Poppaea Sabina, but when the emperor Nero took Poppaea for his mistress—she later became his wife—Otho was sent from Rome to govern Lusitania (58). For 10 years he ruled this province with integrity. Then, in 68, Otho joined the rebellion against Nero led by Galba, governor of the neighboring province of Tarraconensis. He had hoped to be designated Galba’s successor, but when Galba disappointed him by adopting Lucius Piso Licinianus (January 69), Otho prepared to seize power. Otho organized a conspiracy among the Praetorian Guard, who murdered Galba in the Roman Forum. Otho was acclaimed emperor (January 15).
Before Galba’s death, however, the legions in Germany had declared for Aulus Vitellius, whose troops were already moving toward Italy. Acting with speed and determination, Otho sent a naval expedition to Narbonensis (a region in southern Gaul), summoned the Danube legions, and marched out on March 14. Although substantial forces joined Otho from Illyricum, by early April, the Vitellian forces were far stronger. Experienced advisers counseled delay, but Otho insisted on action. His army was defeated at Bedriacum, about 22 miles (35 km) east of Cremona, and Otho committed suicide.
