Ellen Muriel Deason (August 30, 1919 – July 16, 2012), known professionally as Kitty Wells, was an American pioneering female country music singer. She broke down a female barrier in country music with her 1952 hit recording, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" which also made her the first female country singer to top the U.S. country charts, and turned her into the first female country star. Her Top 10 hits continued until the mid-1960s, inspiring a long list of female country singers who came to prominence in the 1960s.
Lonely Street is a 2009 American comedy-thriller film directed by Peter Ettinger and starring Jay Mohr, Robert Patrick, Nikki Cox, Joe Mantegna and Katt Williams. The film is based on the novel of the same name, written by Steve Brewer.
Plot summary
Bubba Mabry (Mohr), a notoriously gullible private detective, is hired to snoop on a tabloid reporter by a mysterious celebrity known only as Mr. Aaron (Patrick). When the tabloid reporter is murdered, Mabry becomes the prime suspect in his death.
This was Williams' fifth LP of new material for the label. It's described by William Ruhlmann on AllMusic.com as "an album full of songs of lost love and loneliness that found Williams using more of the Mel Tormé-like foggy lower register of his voice." The liner notes on the back of the album jacket read, "The selections in Lonely Street, Andy confides, are those for which he feels a special affection. Every vocalist has a few personal favorites... and it is quite clear to the listener that this collection presents songs which Andy Williams believes, feels -- and loves."
The title song
Cadence Records founder Archie Bleyer describes the album's title track as a "song from Nashville, which I first heard at the Everly Brothers' home on one of my trips to that city." He later conducted Williams's recording of "Lonely Street" on August 23, 1959, and the song was released as a single with another song recorded at that session, "Summer Love", as its B-side. The A-side entered the Hot 100 in Billboard magazine in the issue dated September 7 of that year and stayed on the chart for 16 weeks, peaking at number five. In the October 26 issue it debuted on the magazine's list of 30 Hot R&B Sides, where it lasted for four weeks and reached number 20.
Wells Crater is an impact crater in the Eridania quadrangle on Mars at 60.2°S and 237.9°W, and it is 103.0km in diameter. Its name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN), and it was named after H. G. Wells.

The occupational name (i.e. "Wellman") derives from the person responsible for a village's spring. The locational name (i.e. "Well") derives from the pre-7th century waella ("spring"). The topographical name (i.e. "Attewell") derives from living near a spring. The oldest public record is found in 1177 in the county of Norfolk. Variations of Wells include Well, Welman, Welles, Wellman and Wellsman. At the time of the British Census of 1881Wells Surname at Forebears, its relative frequency was highest in Berkshire (3.2 times the British average), followed by Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, Kinross-shire, Huntingdonshire, Kent, Sussex, Lincolnshire, Dumfriesshire and Bedfordshire. Andy Williams - Lonely Street
Recorded in 1959 when Andy Williams was 32 years old. The album "Lonely Street" is concept album much like Frank Sinatra's "Only the Lonely" in that it is filled with bleak torch songs. However, unlike the Sinatra record, this LP is a very bluesy and jazzy. The original liner notes stated that the tracks were hand picked by Williams himself, and were among his all-time favorite songs.

Miss Kitty Wells sings her big 1952 #1 hit 'It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels' at the Grand Ole Opry. The songwriter was Jimmy D. Miller.
Lyric:
As I sit here tonight the jukebox playing
The tune about the wild side of life
As I listen to the words you are saying
It brings mem'ries when I was a trustful wife
It was't God who made honky tonk angels
As you said in the words of your song
Too many times married men think they're still single
That has caused many a good girl to go wrong
[ fiddle ]
It's a shame that all the blame is on us women
It's not true that only you men feel the same
From the start most ev'ry heart that's ever broken
Was because there always was a man to blame
It was't God who made honky tonk angels
As you said in the words of your song
Too many times married men think they're still single
That has caused many a good girl to go wrong

The Life and Tragic Ending of Kitty Wells
Kitty Wells was born on August 30, 1919, was born Ellen Muriel Deason on 30 August 1919, one of six siblings, to Charles Cary Deason and his wife, Myrtle, in Nashville, Tennessee. She is one of the few well-known country performers to have been born in Nashville.
Wells began singing as a child, learning guitar from her father, who was a brakeman on the Tennessee Central Railroad. Her father, Charles, and his brother were musicians, and her mother, Myrtle, was a gospel singer. As a teenager, Wells sang with her sisters, who performed under the name the Deason Sisters, on a local radio station beginning in 1936. At the age of 18 Wells married Johnnie Wright, a cabinetmaker who aspired to country music stardom which he would eventually achieve as half of the duo, Johnnie & Jack. She was widowed 33 days before their 74th wedding anniversary when Johnnie died in 2011, aged 97. Kitty and Johnnie had three children, Ruby, Bobby, and Carol Sue, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Songs Made Famous By Jim Reeves (1966)
Kitty Wells with a cover of Jim Reeves' smash hit 'He'll Have To Go' appropriately named 'She'll Have To Go'.
Lyric:
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you, she'll have to go
Whisper to me, tell me, do you love me true
Or is she holding you the way I do?
Though love is blind, make up your mind I've got to know
Should I hang up or will you tell her she'll have to go?
You can't say the words I want to hear
While you're with another friend
Do you want me answer yes or no?
Darling, I will understand
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you, she'll have to go
Kitty Wells sings Searching (For Someone Like You) at the Grand Ole Opry in 1955. This song has been a #3 country hit for her and was written by Pee Wee Maddux.
Lyric:
Searching I've spent a lifetime darling
Searching looking for someone like you
Dreaming in all my dreams I dream that someday
I'd find someone like you
Other loves have come my way but they were not for me
Tell me that you're here to stay don't ever set me free
Cause I've been searching I've spent a lifetime darling searching
Looking for someone just like you
[ fiddle ]
Other loves have come my way but they were not for me
Tell me that you're here to stay don't ever set me free
Cause I've been searching I've spent a lifetime darling searching
Looking for someone just like you

Recorded in 1959 when Andy Williams was 32 years old. The album "Lonely Street" is concept album much like Frank Sinatra's "Only the Lonely" in that it is filled with bleak torch songs. However, unlike the Sinatra record, this LP is a very bluesy and jazzy. The original liner notes stated that the tracks were hand picked by Williams himself, and were among his all-time favorite songs.
LONELY STREET
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
I'm looking for that lonely street
I've got a sad, sad tale to tell
I need a place to go and weep
Where's this place called Lonely Street?
A place where there's just loneliness
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called Lonely Street?
Perhaps upon that Lonely Street
There's someone such as I
Who came to bury broken dreams
And watch an old love die
If I could find that Lonely Street
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called Lonely Street?
Where's this place called Lonely Street?

I may look old for my years and these wrinkles on my face They were put there by my kids I love so dear They won't listen to what I say and it's turning my hair gray The kids grow older and hurt me more each year When they were little they sat on my knee I gave them all my love from the start Now they're too big to sit on my knee they're stepping all over my heart They're my own flesh and blood so no matter what they do I will love them in a mother's special way I pray to God each day and night that my kids turn out right These are heartaches every mother has to pay When they were little...
