This city is also a Soviet experiement of architects and urban planners, that built one of the few linear cities of the world, and there are many curious things to see here. Let's explore Volgograd city and Volgograd region!

Volgograd: Russia's volunteer body hunters - BBC News
Volgograd, one of the World Cup's host cities, and once the home of massive Second World War battles when it used to be called Stalingrad. Many soldiers were never given a proper burial and every time there’s construction work in the city they find more bodies. They found three when they dug out the foundations for the World Cup stadium. This is a really moving story about a team of Russian volunteers who spend their weekends searching for soldiers’ bodies and trying to give identify them and give them a decent burial.

The city became a symbol of resistance, endurance, and sacrifice during this intense struggle.
Today, Volgograd stands as a living testament to its wartime history. The city has preserved numerous landmarks and monuments that commemorate the sacrifices made during the Battle of Stalingrad. I'll visit not only the Mamayev Kurgan but also some less known memorials that reflect the history of the city.
These historical sites in Volgograd serve as a solemn reminder of the human cost of war and the bravery exhibited by those who fought in one of the most significant battles of World War II. The city's commitment to preserving its wartime heritage makes it a destination for those interested in understanding the profound impact of the conflict on both a local and global scale.
Enjoy!

Volgograd (Волгоград)
Povolží, Volgogradská oblast, Rusko
Volgogradský most, dokončen r. 2009 (Волгоградский мост). Na druhé straně mostu je písečná pláž, kde je možno skočit do řeky a strávit hezké odpoledne.
Mamajova mohyla (Героям Сталинградской битвы » на Мамаевом Кургане)
Tramvají jedu na žel. stanici Volgograd 1 (Волгоград-1) a vlakem ruských železnic pokračuji nočním vlakem do města Saratov v Povolží.

V 82. dílu dojedu vlakem z Uzbekistánu (přes Kazachstán) a astrachaňskou oblast do Volgogradu.
Mamajova mohyla (Мамаев курган)
Socha "Matka vlast volá", rekonstrukce sochy
Srovnání výšky: postava 52 m + 33 m meč / Socha svobody: 46 m
Sál vojenské slávy (Зал воинской славы)
Truchlící matka (Скорбящая Мать)
Příště: Dagestán.

Meteoroids, meteors, meteorites: What is the science behind impact crater formation?
Impact craters are scattered across Earth’s surface, but meteoroids first face the challenge of passing through Earth’s atmosphere, producing impressive shooting stars (meteors) before they even come close to reaching the ground. Not all meteorite impacts leave a scar on the planet, but those that do can be powerful enough to cause mass extinctions. Yet from destruction, life can blossom, with these hotspots of evolution also housing huge economic metal deposits to help society prosper.

Welcome back, Richest fans! Recently, a story spread across social media. Whilst working one evening in North Sumatra, Indonesia, Joshua Hutagalung would suddenly make a space discovery as an old meteorite fell into his home. The media across the globe began to take an interest in this space rock. Eventually, Hutagalung sold it for a small fortune. Yet later on, it seems the meteorite may have actually been worth millions! However, is this actually the case? Or are people getting their maths a little wrong? Today, we’re going to explore this interesting story. As well as briefly examine the amazing Hoba meteorite.
Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the vide...

However, you'll want to make sure your find is indeed a stony or iron rock meter space cosmic origin and not a piece of ordinary terrestrial material. By checking for common visual and physical markers of a meteorite, you can determine whether the rock you've found is actually extraterrestrial in origin

Scientists Terrifying New Discovery Hidden In Australia
Our Planet is home to many strange discoveries. There is one special place on earth, that holds a considerably high amount of those. This is a map of Australia, the smallest continent with one of the largest countries. Australia is the seventh continent and is also the world's oldest, flattest, and driest inhabited region. The breathtakingly gorgeous continent is a vibrant mix of varied geography, distinct climate, and a vast and adventurous history. The center section of Australia is mostly desert, however there are rich green rainforests in the north east and mountain ranges in the southeast. The British seized the eastern half of the continent in the 1770s, while Indigenous Australians arrived almost 65,000 years ago.Because the massive continent is cut off from the rest of the planet. ...

🌏 About OzGeographics
OzGeographics, formally known as Geographics, is an Australian based Youtube channel that releases high quality documentaries in an easy to digest format. We primarily release videos that cover topics in the realm of Earth Sciences or natural disasters, but we also release the odd video here or there that delves into other sciences, or other topics altogether depending on how compelling we find the topic at hand.
Our videos are catered for anyone and everyone, and our goal is to attempt to explain hard to understand events in an easy to digest manner that isn't too "dry" in its presentation.

If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. Firstly, we’ll look at the back story of what’s known as the Kolang Meteorite and how it came to be in Hutagalung’s possession. After the story went viral, American Jared Collins got in touch in order to purchase the piece of history. We’ll examine how much money was exchanged and compare it to the median wage in Indonesia. However, Collins was buying for his collection. Instead, he shipped it back to the US for Jay Piatek to enjoy. We’ll see how smaller fragments of the Kolang meteorite that landed nearby went up for sale on eBay and why this could mean Hutagalung was ripped off. There’s the investigation by The Lunar And Planetary Institute that found out just how old this rock is. It’s pretty astonishing as it’s nearly as old as our planet!

It is also known as the island continent.Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, also known as Sahul-Australia, Sahul-land, Meganesia, Papualand and Greater Australia. It is a sovereign country comprising Australia's Mainland, Tasmania, New Guinea, the ARU Islands, the Ashmore and Cartier Islands, and nearly all of the Coral Sea islands are also part of the continent. The fascinating continent is home to ancient cultures, a diverse range of flora and fauna, and some of the world's most stunning natural and archeological wonders. Over the years, scientists have discovered some incredible and terrible things on the Australian continent. Join us as we discover and learn more about Australia, the home of the kangaroos and koalas.
