Sydney John "Syd" Chaplin (16 March 1885 — 16 April 1965) was an English actor. He was the elder half-brother of SirCharlie Chaplin and served as his business manager, and a half-uncle of the actor Sydney Chaplin (1926–2009), who was named after him.
Early life
Chaplin was born as Sydney John Hill, to 19-year-old Hannah Hill in London. Hannah claimed Sydney's father was a man named Sydney Hawkes, but his father's identity was never verified. He began using the Chaplin surname following his mother's marriage to Charles Chaplin, Sr., a year after his birth. While Syd and brother Charlie were in the Cuckoo Schools in Hanwell following his mother's mental collapse, Syd was placed in the programme designed to train young boys to become seamen, on the Exmouth training ship docked at Grays, Essex. He followed this training period with several years working on ships, receiving high marks from all of his employers. But his ambition was to get into the entertainment business and he left his final voyage with that in mind.
Sydney Earl Chaplin (March 30, 1926 – March 3, 2009) was an American actor.
Biography
Chaplin was born five weeks prematurely. He was the second son of actors Charlie Chaplin and Lita Grey. The two had married in November 1924 when she became pregnant with Sydney's elder brother Charles, who was born 10 months before him in May 1925. The two also later had eight half-siblings from their father's fourth marriage to Oona O'Neill as well as a deceased half-brother Norman (from their father's first marriage). His parents divorced a year after his birth.
Set the same future (the "Boutique Economy") as Marusek's We Were Out of Our Minds with Joy, the story is about Zoranna– an affluent, attractive journalist who visits her elderly sister Nancy, who is the only other surviving member of her family. Unlicensed procreation has been outlawed to prevent overpopulation; biotechnology has advanced to the point where immortality is possible, but only granted to people who have the means and are considered useful to society. Nancy is one of the people who are considered obsolete, as she was forced out of her teaching career after the Procreation Ban; she now works as a hospice caretaker from her apartment, where she tends to holographic projections of dying patients.
This song is one of the few cases during the Rodgers and Hammerstein partnership when Rodgers re-used a melody he had written for an earlier show and then discarded. In this case the melody was a tune he wrote for South Pacific, called "Suddenly Lucky", which he originally intended for the character of Nellie to sing but replaced it with the song "(I'm in Love with) a Wonderful Guy". Mary Martin, the star of South Pacific, who had proposed that Rodgers should cast Yul Brynner as the King, reminded Rodgers of this tune, and so Hammerstein wrote new lyrics to it. James Taylor covered the song off of the children's music compilation called For Our Children.
Getting to Know You is a short story collection by David Marusek. It contains all of his published science fiction stories as of it publication. Includes an introduction and a commentary on each story by the author.

The Sydney area has been inhabited by indigenous Australians since the Upper Paleolithic period. The first British settlers arrived in 1788 to found Sydney as a penal colony, the first European settlement in Australia. Since convict transportation ended in the mid-19th century, the city has transformed from a colonial outpost into a major global cultural and economic centre.
The population of Sydney at the time of the 2011 census was 4.39 million, 1.5 million of which were born overseas, representing many different nationalities and making Sydney one of the most multicultural cities in the world. There are more than 250 different languages spoken in Sydney and about one-third of residents speak a language other than English at home.
Sydney, a gambler in his 60s, finds a young man, John, sitting forlornly outside a diner and offers to give him a cigarette and buy him a cup of coffee. Sydney learns that John is trying to raise enough money for his mother's burial. He offers to drive John to Las Vegas and teach him how to make some money and survive. Although he is skeptical at first, John agrees to Sydney's proposal.

Charles Chaplin, Lloyd Bacon, Edna Purviance, Leo White, Bud Jamison, Billy Armstrong, Carl Stockdale, Paddy McGuire, Ben Turpin, G.M. ('Broncho Billy') Anderson, Spike (dog)

Description :
Inspired by the Keystone film, The Knockout (1914) and Chaplin’s interest in boxing, this comedy has Charlie finding employment as a sparring partner who fights in the prize ring and wins the championship match, with the help of his pet bulldog. Boxing events were then illegal in most states, and films of boxing matches (including comic takes on them) satisfied a pent-up interest in the subject. The relationship of the Tramp and his dog would be fully developed three years later in A Dog’s Life (1918), and Chaplin’s brilliant choreography in the ring anticipates the boxing match in City Lights (1931). G.M. “Broncho Billy” Anderson plays a spectator in the boxing sequence.

[ANNA] [Spoken] It's a very ancient saying, But a true and honest thought, That if you become a teacher, By your pupils you'll be taught. [Singing] As a teacher I've been learning -- You'll forgive me if I boast -- And I've now become an expert, On the subject I like most. [Spoken] Getting to know you. [Singing] Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, Putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, My cup of tea. [ANNA AND THE MOTHERS] Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, Putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, [ANNA] My cup of tea. [ALL] Getting to know you, Getting to feel free and easy When I am with you, Getting to know what to say Haven't you noticed Suddenly I'm bright and breezy? Because of all the beautiful and new Things I'm learning about you Day by day. Getting to know you, Getting to feel free and easy When I am with you, Getting to know what to say Haven't you noticed Suddenly I'm bright and breezy? Because of all the beautiful and new Things I'm learning about you Day .. by ... day.
