Climate change is happening now, and even world leaders meeting for climate talks at this year’s Cop25 know we aren’t doing enough to stop it.
In fact, we’re going backwards. The UN says carbon dioxide levels in our atmosphere are going up, and the earth is on track to warm by 3.2 degrees before the century is over. The consequences of that acceleration are already proving disastrous for communities around the world.

2024: A Year In Climate Change
2024: a year of shambolic international negotiations, and terrible headlines (with positive caveats). Maximise your charitable end-of-year giving at https://givewell.org and use code simonclark to get your donation matched.
The past 12 months have been extremely eventful in the climate space. For the first time ever, the world is over 1.5C warmer than preindustrial times (though this won't last), emissions have climbed ever higher, and international negotiations perhaps reached their apex of ineffectiveness. But among all these negative headlines there are causes for optimism. Not enough to make the year anything other than a disaster, but enough to hold onto.

You’ve seen it in the news, heard it on the radio, maybe you even heard about it on TikTok but are you sure you truly know what climate change is? Today’s episode will explain how a sudden increase in greenhouse gases has resulted in a warming planet that could prove deadly to millions.
ClimateScience is a registered charity in the UK led by over 150 young enthusiastic volunteers. Our mission is to make real, long-term climate solutions actionable.

In the last 30 years, CO2 emissions have increased by 60 percent worldwide. The most pressing problem facing our civilization is global warming. What solutions could there be? This documentary accompanies activists in their efforts to combat climate change.
According to scientists, if by the year 2100 the global temperature has risen more than 1.5 degrees Celsius on levels recorded in the year 1850, the consequences could be devastating for people and the environment. But will we manage to achieve this ambitious goal? Around the world, politicians, companies, laboratories and universities are struggling to find solutions.
The film team visits climate rescuers in Sudan, Indonesia and Europe. Their inventive spirit cools buildings, connects countries with green electricity lines or sucks carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. Their work helps determine the living conditions of generations to come.
Every time the women of Shagra plant an acacia seedling in the sand of Darfur, it is an occasion of great joy in the Sudanese village. The tree will drive its roots 100 meters into the ground and be better able to withstand the droughts in the Sahel than most other plants. It will secrete gum sap when women scratch the bark after a few years. The sale of gum arabic will alleviate poverty in the village.
65,000 acacias are already growing in Darfur: a blessing for the bitterly poor region, as well as a carbon dioxide reservoir that can help limit global warming.

This video defines climate change and explains the greenhouse effect and the role of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. While it explores the consequences of climate change on our environment – such as rising sea levels, more frequent extreme weather, and damage to our ecosystems – it also suggests both big and little changes that we can make to protect our Earth.

Climate Change and Global Warming: Explained in Simple Words for Beginners
The term climate change is used to denote the long-term changes in the weather patterns in a given region. Another term often interchanged with climate change is global warming. Global warming is formally defined as a rise in Earth's temperature that persists for a decade or longer.
There could be several causes for climate change, but the biggest one is the rising concentration of greenhouse gases. Simply put, greenhouse gases are those gases in our atmosphere that trap heat. Some examples include carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide and ozone.
Natural sources and human activities both result in the emission of greenhouse gases. One of the most common ways these gases get released into the atmosphere is through the burning of fossil fuels. Burning coal or oil to ru...

2024 first year to pass 1.5C global warming limit | BBC News
The planet has moved a major step closer to warming more than 1.5C, new data shows, despite world leaders vowing a decade ago they would try to avoid this.
The European Copernicus climate service said on Friday that 2024 was the first calendar year to pass the 1.5C threshold, as well as being the world's hottest year on record.
This does not mean the international 1.5C target has been broken, because that refers to a long-term average over decades.
But does bring us nearer to doing so, as fossil fuel emissions continue to heat the atmosphere.

Global Warming.
The thicker layer of greenhouse gases traps more heat.
This result in an increase in average temperature of the earth and the earth becomes hotter and hotter.
This is called global warming.
If we do not take steps to reduce global warming, it will lead to loss of human lives, plants and animals.
Steps to reduce global warming:
Plant more trees. Reduce, reuse and recycle. Use less hot water. Turn off electronic devices when not in use. Spread awareness.

Burning coal or oil to run industrial processes or giant factories increases the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Indeed, fossil fuels' contribution to greenhouse gas emissions is the largest, in the range of 70- 80% of total emissions.
In this video, we explain, in simple terms, climate change and global warming and what we can do as a community and individually to save Earth from climate change.
