The sixth season of the American fictional dramatelevision seriesER first aired on September 30, 1999 and concluded on May 18, 2000. The sixth season consists of 22 episodes.
Plot
In the first major cast change in ER, the sixth season sees the addition of four new characters including long term cast members Dr. Luka Kovač and Nurse/Turned Third Year Medical Student Abby Lockhart, also added are Dr. Cleo Finch and Dr. Dave Malucci. Paul McCrane is now billed as a series regular and the return of Deb Chen from season 1 as Dr. Jing-Mei Chen. Long term server Jeanie Boulet leaves to care for her HIV-positive child. Things take a turn for the worse when both Lucy Knight and John Carter are attacked and stabbed by a psychotic patient. Although the team battle bravely, they are unable to save Lucy who succumbs to her wounds and dies, leaving the ER team, especially Carter devastated while Carol Hathaway leaves to begin a new life with Doug Ross.
In addition Luka Kovač joins the team and struggles to gain the respect and trust from his new colleagues in the ER. Hathaway struggles to begin parenting on her own. Greene and Corday begin their relationship and he deals with the death of his father. Abby Lockhart begins her third-year-med-student rotation. While still recovering from the violent attack that left him near death and killed Lucy, Carter develops an addiction to pain medication, forcing Greene, Weaver along with Benton and the other doctors into an intervention to get Carter to realize that he's an addict. Carter then accepts that he's an addict and checks into a rehab in the season finale with Benton accompanying him.
In the season premiere ("The One After Vegas"), Ross and Rachel's marriage is established to be a drunken mistake, and although Ross lies and says he got the marriage annulled so that he won't have to be known as the "three divorces" guy, Rachel eventually finds out and they divorce several episodes later. Monica and Chandler decide to move into her apartment together, and Rachel moves in with Phoebe. Joey lands a role on a cable television series called Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E, where he stars alongside a robot. Ross gets a job lecturing at New York University, and starts dating one of his students, Elizabeth (Alexandra Holden). Phoebe and Rachel's apartment catches fire, and Rachel moves in with Joey while Phoebe moves in with Chandler and Monica. In the season finale, Chandler proposes to Monica.

The sixth-season premiere was the first to climb in the ratings year-over-year since the second season, drawing 12.1 million viewers. The season aired Tuesdays at 9:00 pm from February 2 to May 18. The series finale aired on Sunday, May 23, 2010. The finale ran two-and-a-half hours starting at 9:00 pm; pushing the local news back a half-hour, followed by the previously announced post-finale special, Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost, at 12:05 am. The season continues the stories of the survivors of the fictional September 22, 2004 crash of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 on a mysterious island in the South Pacific. The survivors must deal with two outcomes of the detonation of a nuclear bomb on the island in the 1970s. While the on-island story continues, "flash sideways" show a second timeline, in which Flight 815 never crashes. The season was released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 24, 2010 alongside a complete series boxset. Included in the special features was "The New Man in Charge," a previously unaired shortened episode that serves as an epilogue following the events of the finale.
After the band had their first show booked for 14 Dec 1998 (Matt's 18th
birthday, by coincidence) they had no name to promote the show with. Looking
into his college bag, Matt pulled out a CD by Northern Irish rockers 'Ash',
called 'Trailer'. The 1st track on it was called Season. They also used the
font for the band logo.
Before deciding on this name, they flirted with names such as: Bomb (a 'Bush'
song from the '16stone' album), Flirt, Anavrin ('Nirvana' backwards).
History
Formation and early years: 1997–2005
Matt and Gary Steeles met in school in 1996, with a keen common interest in
Nirvana, they began to hang out and talk about how cool it would be to be
in a band. They started 'Anavrin' just before their exams in 1997, with Gary
teaching Matt how to play the guitar, and Gary taking up bass. Later in 1997,
mutual school friend Simon Hartland joined on guitar - he being the person
who had gotten Matt into rock music over the previous couple of years. The 3
looked for a drummer, and eventually did 2 gigs with session drummer Paul
Wall.
The Southern League, a competition for both professional and amateur clubs, was founded in 1894 under the initiative of Millwall Athletic (now simply Millwall), to cater for teams in southern England, who were unable to join the Football League. The nine founder members were:
1 September 1894 – On the opening day of the Football League season, an extraordinary game between Sunderland and Derby County was played over three halves. Consequently, with a total of 30 league games to play in the season, only Derby County had any "mathematical" possibility of overtaking Aston Villa to take the title. To do so, they would have needed to take at least seven points from their remaining four games, with Aston Villa losing their remaining three games. In the event, Derby lost 1–0 at Bury and Aston Villa were thus confirmed as League Champions on the same day that they went on to win the Cup. As a result, Villa became the first, and so far, only team to date to achieve the league and cup "double" on the same day.
