Central Sulawesi (IndonesianSulawesi Tengah) is a province of Indonesia located at the centre of the island of Sulawesi. Its capital and largest city is Palu. The 2010 census recorded a population of 2,633,420 for the province, while the latest official estimate (for January 2014) is 2,839,290.
There are over 400 granite megaliths in the area of the Lore Lindu National Park, of which around 30 represent human forms. They vary in size from a few centimetres to approximately 4.5 metres (15ft). The original purpose of the megaliths is unknown. Other megaliths are in form of large pots (Kalamba) and stone plates (Tutu'na). Various archaeological studies have dated the carvings from between 3000 BC to 1300 AD.

Central Sulawesi in a Minute
As far as tourism goes this area was de-popularized due to an 8-year war between a few Christians and Muslims in a town called Poso. This town along with the area of Central Sulawesi through the 2000-2010 became a no-go zone for tourism. But since then things have really settled down and there are only a few rebels in the bush basically hanging out just being bitter. So we were invited by the tourism board of Indonesia to have a look at this is what I found! Check it out!

Karambangan music in Leboni, Central Sulawesi
Leboni is a small village on the edge of Lake Poso, high in the mountains of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its inhabitants are almost all one big family, transmigrant Rampis from the district of North Luwu in South Sulawesi. In one humble home, situated within a cacao plantation next to the massive Saluopa Waterfall, live a family of musicians who play a unique style of guitar-based music called karambangan.
This unique family band has taken Portuguese-inspired fingerpicked guitar and Christian hymn-inspired vocal harmonies and added homemade ukeleles, bamboo flutes called seruling, and a one-stringed bowed instrument, borrowed from the local Pamona people, called geso-geso. The simple chords and homespun instrumentation lay the foundation for poetry sung in the local languages of Pamona a...

The simple chords and homespun instrumentation lay the foundation for poetry sung in the local languages of Pamona and Rampi.

The simple chords and homespun instrumentation lay the foundation for poetry sung in the local languages of Pamona and Rampi.

Archeologists believe that they must be minimum 3500 years old because they sometimes find bones nearby which can be carbon dated.
But because the stones themselves cannot be carbon dated, there is a possibility that they are much older than the bones.
