Stephen Andrew Gill Hough, CBE
(/ˈhʌf/; born 22 November 1961) is a British-born classical pianist, composer and writer. He became an Australian citizen in 2005 and thus has dual nationality (his father was born in Australia in 1926).
Hough holds a master's degree from the Juilliard School where his studies were assisted by the receipt of the first ever Royal Philharmonic Society Julius Isserlis Scholarship for study abroad. He has studied with Heather Slade-Lipkin, Gordon Green, and Derrick Wyndham. He is also a composer and transcriber, and often includes his own works in his recitals. The premiere of his cello concerto, written for Steven Isserlis, took place in March 2007, and in the summer of the same year Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral performed masses he wrote for them. In 2009, his trio for piccolo, contrabassoon and piano ('Was mit den Traenen Geschieht') was premiered at the Philharmonie in Berlin by members of the Berlin Philharmonic. His song cycles 'Herbstleider' (2007) and 'Other Love Songs' (2010) were premiered and recorded by members of The Prince Consort. His 'Sonata for Piano (broken branches)' was premiered by himself at the Wigmore Hall in 2011. In 2012 the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir gave the world premiere of the orchestrated version of his Missa Mirabilis.
Eusebius of Caesarea (/juːˈsiːbiəs/; Greek: Εὐσέβιος, Eusébios; AD260/265– 339/340), also known as Eusebius Pamphili, was a Roman historian, exegete, and Christianpolemicist of Greek descent. He became the bishop of Caesarea Maritima about 314. Together with Pamphilus, he was a scholar of the Biblical canon and is regarded as an extremely well learned Christian of his time. He wrote Demonstrations of the Gospel, Preparations for the Gospel, and On Discrepancies between the Gospels, studies of the Biblical text. As "Father of Church History" he produced the Ecclesiastical History, On the Life of Pamphilus, the Chronicle and On the Martyrs.
Sources
Little is known about the life of Eusebius. His successor at the see of Caesarea, Acacius, wrote a Life of Eusebius, a work that has since been lost. Eusebius' own surviving works probably only represent a small portion of his total output. Beyond notices in his extant writings, the major sources are the 5th-century ecclesiastical historians Socrates, Sozomen, and Theodoret, and the 4th-century Christian author Jerome. There are assorted notices of his activities in the writings of his contemporaries Athanasius, Arius, Eusebius of Nicomedia, and Alexander of Alexandria. Eusebius' pupil, Eusebius of Emesa, provides some incidental information.
Eusebius held the position of praepositus sacri cubiculi in 337, when Constantine I died; he concealed the will of the Emperor. Eusebius became a supporter of Arianism, influencing the empress and many other eunuchs. He entered then at the service of one of Constantine's sons and successors, Constantius II, with whom he shared the support for Arianism and on whom he exerted a great influence.
In 354 Eusebius was sent by Constantius II to talk to Pope Liberius and then attended at the meeting between the Emperor and the Pope. He sent money to the orator Libanius in exile and, in 355, helped those Arian bishops who plotted against Athanasius of Alexandria.
Eusebius followed Constantius into Gaul (353-354) and then to Milan (354). Here he plotted against Constantius' cousin, brother-in-law and Caesar, Constantius Gallus; Constantius ordered him to go to Pula, where Gallus was imprisoned, to question him about his rule in the East.

Eusebius' History of the Church 📓 The Most Dangerous Book in the World
"More wars have been waged…in the name of religion than by any other institutional force in human history.” So is that the History of the Church? Written between 312 and 324 AD, Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History, or History of the Church, was for centuries considered the foundational work of Christian history. But with the rise of secularism in the 19th century, the veracity of Eusebius' famous work has been strongly criticized. The History of the Church is an epic story. And if you are a Christian, it's your story. But is it true? Let's find out!

25—Eusebius: History from the Wrong Side of History | Way of the Fathers with Mike Aquilina
Every Christian historian or history buff is dependent upon the work of Eusebius of Caesarea. He didn’t invent Church history, but his writings made it a serious discipline. He was the first to attempt a comprehensive, universal history of Christianity. He wanted his account to be the official story. Yet in his own lifetime he showed the perils and ironies of living within history. He did this by aiding and abetting true villains and assisting in the persecution of saints and heroes.

His works are of a theological and apologetic nature. He became one of the earliest and most influential bishops of the Christian Church. According to survival records of the Church Council of Nicaea, he occupied the first seat on the right of the Emperor and delivered the inaugural address on the Emperors behalf.
Eusebius studied under Pamphilius (c. 240-309). a Christian scholar and presbyter in the church at Caesarea. Pamphilius was an ardent disciple of Origen and Eusebius became deeply influenced by the Origenist tradition. His major work was his History of the Church, a massive piece of research that preserves quotations from many older writers that would otherwise have been lost.

Eusebius Pamphilius - ( 263-339 ), Theologian and historian
Pamphilius Cæsariensis Eusebius is often called the father of church history. He was probably born in Caesarea , Palestine and had Pamphilus as his teacher.

Eusebius was the bishop of Caesarea, the biographer of Constantine, and the father of Ecclesiastical History. He had good contributions. But he let his faith get the better of him when he lied in the name of God. In this video, we discuss this infamous historian. We talk about what he forged and his justification for it. Aside from a pair a letters between Jesus and the king of Edessa, he forged the Testamonium Flavianum and much more to protect his religion.
