Archie Shepp (born May 24, 1937) is an American jazz saxophonist. Shepp is best known for his passionately Afrocentric music of the late 1960s, which focused on highlighting the injustices faced by African Americans, as well as for his work with the New York Contemporary Five, Horace Parlan, and his collaborations with his "New Thing" contemporaries, most notably Cecil Taylor and John Coltrane.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "This particular early Archie Shepp recording has its strong moments, although it is a bit erratic... Overall, this set, even with its faults, is recommended".

Danko Jones is a Canadian rock band from Toronto, Canada. The band consists of Danko Jones (vocals/guitar), John 'JC' Calabrese (bass guitar) and Rich Knox (drums).
Eventually, the trio relented and put out a self-titled six song e.p. on Sonic Unyon records in 1998. In 1999 they released the self-produced My Love Is Bold E.P. and achieved national exposure with the single "Bounce". They were nominated for a Juno Award in 2000 for Best Alternative Album.
In 2001 Bad Taste Records released a compilation of the band's early recordings, demos, and b-sides entitled, I'm Alive and On Fire. A 5 week European tour followed to promote the release including shows at the Roskilde festival in Denmark and Hultsfred festival in Sweden. By the end of the year they had returned 2 more times, most notably as main support for the Backyard Babies.

Hambone, to begin with, takes its title from a character invented by Sandy Becker, who runs a children's television show in New York. As Hambone, Becker is a mime, a musician, a player on urban folk motifs. Shepp's Hambone of course, comes from far different sources than Becker's; and at the same time it touches a popular base, it is looking into what's happening among the jazz young - those musicians who are stretching and deepening the language so liberatingly. They say into your early life romance came And in this heart of yours burnt a flame A flame that flickered one day and died away Then, with disillusion deep in your eyes You learned that fools in love soon grow wise The years have changed you somehow, I see now SmokingDrinkingNever thinking of tomorrow Non-chalant Diamonds shining Dancing Dining With some man in a restaurant Is that all you really want No. Sophisticated Lady, I know You miss the love you had long ago And when nobody is neigh You cry No. Sophisticated Lady, I know You miss the love you had long ago
Archie Shepp ... " data-original-title="" title="">Archie Shepp made for Impulse!, including the landmark FireMusic (1965) ... The album is billed as an exploration of the links between jazz, Latin and African music.
Anyway, there are no better proofs that the New Thing, iconoclastic though it appeared on the surface, was indeed part of the established jazz continuum, than Archie Shepp's albums FireMusic (Impulse!, 1965) and Mama Too Tight (Impulse!, 1966).
