Glacial activity has shaped the landscape 3,000m (9,800ft)above mean sea level, leaving U-shaped valleys and moraines behind. Extrusive igneous rock are dominant above 3,500m (11,500ft) on the eastern slope and 2,200m (7,200ft) on the western slope. The Otún Lake lying in extinct volcano crater and Green Lake are located in the area.
TheColumbia is one of the first breeds of sheep developed in the United States. The product of USDA and university research, it was intended to be an improved breed specially built for the Western ranges of the country (where the majority of sheep raising takes place). Beginning in 1912 in Laramie, Wyoming, Lincoln rams were crossed with Rambouillet ewes. In 1918, the foundation flock was moved to the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station near Dubois, Idaho, for further refinement. Today's Columbia is a popular breed, with heavy, white fleeces and good growth characteristics. It is one of the larger breeds, and is often used for cross breeding in commercial western flocks.
Characteristics
Adult rams weigh between 275 and 400lb (125 and 181kg), while females weigh between 175 and 300lb (79 and 136kg). An average fleece from an ewe weighs from 10 to 16lb (4.5 to 7.3kg) with a yield of 45 to 55%. The staple length of the wool ranges from 3.5 to 5in (8.9 to 12.7cm). The wool is classified as medium wool with a spin count of 50s to 60s. The wool varies from 31.0 to 24.0 microns.
In October 2015, the team announced they would be disbanding and not returning for the 2016 season, citing shortfalls in sponsorship from the Colombian Sports Ministry.
Renaissance had been moderately successful during the 1970s, having a top ten UK singles chart hit in 1978 with "Northern Lights", but were better known as an album band, and for their live performances, particularly at Carnegie Hall. In 1979, the band had taken a less symphonic/orchestral and more electronically based turn with the album Azure d'Or, which resulted in disappointing sales and resultant dropping by their label, Warner Bros. Records. Meanwhile, the lineup of Renaissance was in flux, as John Tout and Terry Sullivan left for varying reasons.
Nevada
The reduced version of Renaissance then took stock; according to the sleeve notes to their CD, "It was time to stand back, take a breather, experiment, and to embark on a new working relationship with their fellow countryman Peter Gosling". Gosling had been in the 1960s band "Moon Train" which had been managed and produced by Bill Wyman, played keyboards on the Renaissance album Camera Camera and later on Time-Line. The single "In the Bleak Midwinter", a version of the Christmas carol by Gustav Holst and Christina Rossetti
was released for the 1982 Christmas market, but did not enter the UK singles chart until 8 January 1983. It spent one week on the chart at number 71.
Their second single, "You Know I Like It" did not trouble the charts and the project went no further. Renaissance finally folded in 1987; Haslam and Dunford embarked on solo careers, and Gosling wrote music for television and film.
Nevada: A Novel is the debut novel from author Imogen Binnie, released by Topside Press in 2013. Nevada follows the adventures of transgender New York punk woman Maria Griffiths.
Plot
When Griffiths finds out her girlfriend cheated on her, she spirals out of control, stealing her girlfriend's car and buying heroin before heading west on a journey of self-discovery. In Nevada, she meets James Hanson, and immediately realizes that Hanson is also transgender, but doesn't realize it yet. The two travel to Reno together. Griffiths frequently lapses into long inner monologues throughout the book, reflecting on gender, heteronormativity, and social conditioning.
Inspiration
Binnie has said that in writing a story about a transgender protagonist, she wanted to resist the risk of explaining "The Trans Experience for cis people," which she says often happens with transgender memoirs. Because Nevada is a work of fiction, Binnie said she approached writing it as a transgender story written for trans women. "One of the questions I was trying to answer with Nevada was, what would a story about trans women that was intended for an audience of trans women — what would that look like?" Binnie told blogger Sarah McCarry in an interview about the book.

Sheep Farming: How To Be More Profitable With Sheep - Keep It Simple!
Today at Ewetopia Farms, we decided to pass on our philosophy of how to become more profitable and sustainable with sheep. And that is to keep it simple! It may not be what people want to hear but it has worked for us over the years. We discuss a multitude of topics from feeding sheep, breeding sheep, ultrasounding sheep, purchasing equipment, weaning sheep, terminal sires, being handy, growing your own feed, and having good sheep. And having good quality sheep is the key to it all. If you want to be a sheep farmer, your number one investment should be your sheep. ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on YouTube and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

They are what will determine your income, lifestyle and profitability in farming. Everything else stems from them and should be about looking after them as simply, efficiently, and cost effectively as possible in order to gain the most from your investment. These are all derived from our personal experiences and are meant to offer alternatives or solutions for someone wanting to get into sheep from scratch. All farmers have individual goals and goals that may not reflect our goals. So it is not meant as gospel or the only way to do things. It is simply passing on of our opinions as to how we have done things on our sheep farm and what has worked for us. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy this video.
Sheep and sheep farming is our passion and we hope that the love we have for what we do is obvious to you the viewers. Our operation is a large scale, purebred seed stock sheep farm combining the best of pasture and confinement to manage the flock for maximum comfort, minimal stress, and producing a consistent, very high quality product.
I hope you enjoy this video. If you would like to follow along with us and experience life on a real live sheep farm on a daily basis, please subscribe do that you don't miss a single episode! It doesn't cost anything to do so and you can cancel at any time. I think some people think that subscribing costs or locks you into something. All it does is notify you when I post a new video. I felt it may be helpful to clarify that because from talking with people in person, I don't think a lot of people realize that about pushing the subscribe button.
Thank you for taking the time to watch! We love to hear from you so be sure to leave a comment as well.
Thank you!
